Create floppy boot disks for older machines to run ghost or other OS repair tools. I have some clients running off citrix servers. They have PII PC's with no CDROM. If one dies I need a boot floppy to get to the netowkr to load an image. The Floppy is dead in new PC's, but it's use in the real world is still hanging on. Until it's easier to make cd's, and thumb drives bootable (on site with client freaking out using built in windows tools) they won't be leaving my tech bag.
I all but have it in Tampa. Just waiting on some local approval for the television portion. I have FIOS, VOIP, and soon Verizon IP TV. Bye Bye Brighthouse monopoly. I am currently being screwed by them. They overcharge in my area where there is no competition, compared to a county over that has a competitior by $30 a month. I can't wait to dump them.
That game was amazing for it's time. I think the guys name was Steve? Or maybe I just named him that. The crazy bastard loved playing the piano, and cards at the kitchen table. You had to scratch his head to make him feel better. Get food delivered for him to eat. Sorry but you just brought up a bunch of memories of playing that game. I would love to find an emulator and ROM of if anyone has links.
When they have their own games to play they can stop trying to tame the rest of them down to feed to their sheltered children. Matter of fact, they should start their own satelite company. Instead of direct tv or dish, GOD TV. YES! Then they don't have to sensor everyone elses television. Don't forget movie rentals. It will be just like blockbuster, but without that pesky SATANIC Harry Potter to poison little Jimmy's mind with witchcraft. The posibilities are endless. The days of evangelicals craming shit down my throat are limited...

Write your representative. I'm pretty sure they don't read slashdot, and need to know how the people feel on these matters.
and whatever you do never ever under any circumstance mention Citrix or Terminal server. They will start crying, say they don't support Citrix, and hang up on you.;)
I'm assuming 2000 or XP here, but try shift right clicking and using run-as. It will prompt for an account. Enter the administrator password. That may help. Run-as is a crappy comparison to sudo, su.
My thoughts exactly. I'm not downloading anything. I update manually.
Especially in a corporate environment. Shouldn't there be a SUS server in place? You can still control things there as far as I know. Block windowsupdate at the firewall if you are really so damned worried, and havn't bothered to test it in your environment. It has been out for quite some time now.
Where on that screen does it say autoinstall?
Just because it's on the windows update site doesn't mean it will auto install. Who in their right mind leaves a production server on automaticly install updates? Seriously you should be fired.
I was growing tired of 38-40 update downloads on a fresh server install. I do a couple a week for clients, and all that time adds up, especially if I'm on a clients slow pipe. I was about to burn them all, but the new winupdate certainly doesn't make that easy with all of the vague descriptions etc. You would have to track them all down. They need to put out security rollups more often for those of us stuck loading the damn os.
I am ignorant on the actual workings of the FCC, but this strikes me as odd. How can a panel of 5 people, with political party ties, have a say over what can and cannot be broadcast or seen in this country.
This just strikes me as terribly wrong in a very basic way.
It's called reality...seems people needa good shot of it now and then. If Billy want to know what those lady's are doing explain it to him. Seriously. It's a TV not a babysitter.
I wrote my rep in my ditrict. She wrote me back telling me tough shit in not so many words completely siding with the FCC. I may have the email still. It made me furious.
Most of the states hate us, half of the population of Ontartio is here right now anyway. The RV parks fly both US and Canadien flags in the winter. For the love of god...make us Canada's official tropical vacation! I love the laws, hate the cold.
Where do they get these stereotypes from? Who created the gamer stereotype? The media. So why would they fight to get rid of it?
I have never met a gamer who actually talks or acts like the stereotypical gamer does. Certanly not like the imbecils on G4/TechTV. If anything the stereotype is a geeky person whom is a bit obsessed with gaming. Talks about games all the time, and plays games obsessively. Not some, purple haired buzzword spewing jackass.

I had no luck with it, and went to ubuntu, but that should do it.

As well as sending the message to the lazy sysadmin with the unpatched exchange 5.5 install with open realy on by default...
