80% of the computer newbies I talk to have no idea what Linux or UNIX are. A lot of them do not make a clear distinction between the OS and the hardware it runs on.

It's not that they have very little idea (which might be true). The main problem is that slashdotters do not contribute much money to government coffers, and so, their opinion does not matter and can be ignored.
Actually, a study recently published by Swedish scientists claims just that; that the presence of Collies and Yorkshire Terriers in public areas increases copyright violations on the internet by 32%.
There remains no doubt in my mind that the government's recent initiatives are a result of this newly published study.
the reason spires are built on top of tall buildings is in the hopes that stupid terrorists will crash planes into them instead of the office space below.
who is making these "rules" anyway? is there an international body of skyscraper height regulators sanctioned by the UN to measure tall buildings?
if you don't think spires should be counted, GREAT! acknowledge the sears tower as the highest building, move right along. want to think of the cn tower as the tallest building? sure..
unless of course i'm wrong, in which case you might get sued by the aforementioned agency. or worse yet, thrown in a turkish prison.
