But it's Sony, one of the most anti-consumer companies ever to exist.
I won't argue there, but Sony hasn't been so bad with the PS3. Yeah, the install other OS option was attractive to me, but I never used it. I play games on the PS3, I run linux on my PCs.
Also, the PS3 supports quite a bit of standard hardware. Standard power cable, no expensive proprietary external brick. Bluetooth for headset connection. USB storage/charging. 2.5" SATA Hard Disk. Included 802.11g, as well as wired ethernet.
It's not like consumers have been totally shafted by Sony on this device.
Side note: You (in a general sense), are racist when you talk about the death of a few thousand american soldiers, but neglect to mention or even less, acknowledge the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians.) I'm not excusing ignorance, but the average guy on the average American street has no idea that Iraqi civilians are suffering and dying as a result of the invasion. Our mainstream media places no value on those lives, which frankly, doesn't shock me, given the amount of airtime they devote to our own fallen soldiers.
I've been bitching about Best Buy's customer service for years, but I've continued to shop there because they're the only Electronics shop in town.
Then, I discovered bestbuy.com in-store pickup, and things got better.
Then, last week I ordered an SD card, via in-store pickup. When I went to pick it up, they told me that it takes 48-72 hours to prepare the order. (As I recall, it only took 15 minutes to pull my $1000 laptop).
I'm done shopping there. Most of my purchases can be made at the locally owned PC shops, Gamestop or Target. I'll have to leave town next time I want a new HDTV, though.

Very well, where should I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen-year-old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims, like he invented the emoticon. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. A sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.
You're right. I have a 2002 prius, and I get better mpg than toyota suggests. If you don't drive like a 16 yr old kid with jackrabbit starts and fast stops, the prius can easily surpass 50 mpg in town, and 45-48 mpg on the highway.
Yeah, they have those at the walmarts here too, but I remember them being closed most of the time.
I say remember, because I quit shopping there many months ago.
How long to you have to stand in line to check out?
If I know Wal-Mart, 400,00 people will want to check out per hour, but their servers will only be able to hadnle 50,000 transactions in that same time period
For that matter, how do you go about returning the song when it quits playing after a few days?
Well, I cannot address your second issue, but as for the one you mention about having the game be displayed on both screens, you can specify which screen you want to use for gaming. Specifically, you are concerned with the NULL setting under MetaModes.

Yeah, right.
I've dreamed of tabbed browsing for years and finally Microsoft made my dreams come true... oh wait, that was 2006, wasn't it.

Maybe this can be used to break out of that BS 2-year contract most carriers insist on, without paying nasty early termination fee.

Seriously, kudos to the guys with guts to stand up against those pigs, let's hope the SCO folks take notice.
You probably need to wait until the drivers are 2 or 3 years old before installing them on debian.
