Well, it looks somewhat like Plastik, but you can still tell it's GNOME because of all that ugly extra padding and spacing they stick into all their buttons, listviews, and many other widgets.

Heh...a new KDE release candidate comes out less than two days after I stop using KDE after spending the last two years as a die-hard KDE user.

It's not that I have anything against KDE, but I just discovered Ion and how completely wonderful it is. KDE's the best traditional DE, but why should I use a traditional DE or WM when I've got Ion?

It took a little getting used to, but once I got my screen layouts and virtual desktops set up in a way that I like, I've found that Ion is far more natural and useful than a normal WM/DE.

Of course, even though I'm no longer using KDE as a desktop, I still use quite a few KDE applications, and that's not going to change soon.

Which is a major part of the reason why I refuse to watch most American TV. Thankfully, Japanese TV has yet to pull this crap. Their shows are better, too--I wonder if there's a correlation.

The only time they didn't have MCI in their name was between 2000 and the fraud scandal, which was a pretty short time. So, yeah, they're scum, but they're not really hiding. They're hiding a little, because the scandal is usually associated with WorldCom's name, but if they really wanted to hide their past, they'd come up with a completely new name.

I wasn't referring to the HTML elements. I was referring to the menu bar and toolbars at the top of the window. And, yes, I can tell a difference. I've been able to tell the difference since IE3 first came out. In fact, there technically is no menubar--it's just another toolbar.

Oh, and my point is that there's no problem with that, just that some people seem to have different standards of consistency for native Windows (especially Microsoft) apps than they have for OSS apps.

Sometimes they're very different, but they're usually easily recognizable to someone used to Windows.

WMP is one of the worst media players of all time. I'll go as far as to say that playing video is far more pleasant on Linux than on Windows. Why? Because Xine kicks ass, especially with a good frontend like Kaffeine 0.4.x (not 0.5). I've never, ever had to hunt for a codec when using a Xine-based player. WMP can't play jack without hunting down codecs from all over.
