    You haven't ever bought a new, upgraded version of something that you already own? Ever bought a new computer? or TV?

    Or have you ever bought new socks because the old ones had holes on them?

    Brand new, latest techology containers for biological weapons cannot be bought from the local walmart, knowledge on how to grow biological weapons or build containers for them is not something that is taught on every university.

    That was a quote from the article. If you don't understand what it says, I can translate it: if someone has non-lethal strain, he also has lethal strain, he only has to prepare it.

    There's also an another article that you might want to read to undestand why some of us have suspicions about this issue.

    A clue ffor the clueless. Safe strains of anthrax are not nuclear. Just so you know and in case you are getting mixed up between "Nuclear" and "Safe Anthrax"
    is this the same "safe" anthrax that was lost at us armys secret facilities and used at the terrorist letters that were sent to senators?

    I dooon't like instant messaging client that collects information about my discussions for later use (and that is whatever google ever decides). If they explicitly state that they store information about you when using google talk, I don't know what else it could be than your discussions

    In all likelyhood an NDA doesn't cover obvious works like this - anything that could be reasonably discovered publicly. Doubtless he couldn't post the _documents_ that he converted.
    NDA doesn't cover that but copyright will. Everything you do on work is owned by company that you work for.

    So far, I have failed to see the point of RSS.
    The main point is that it is a kind of standard. You can fetch tens of news sources, sort them and read fresh news all the time without having to visit all the sites.

    I never even thought of RSS being a solution for bandwidth usage.

    Really? I read about mafia killings in Russia quite often from newspapers and very often they are just people who have been shot to their home doors.

    Where did you get the idea that mafia, especially russian mafia, only kills people after kidnapping them?

    Funny thing is that in Europe we are heading to opposite direction in some cases.

    Like in france, the court ruled that dvd drm is illegal. And I think that this ruling is based not only to frances laws but to EU laws and will effect to other countries also.

    I think the idea is to start out with a easy to reach goal first (like a small e-commerce package), release it, and then scale it up later.
    The problem is that if your potential customers will be disappointed in your product when they first see it, this will work as negative viral marketing. Your next version will have less downloads than before etc.

    If you are working on something completely new then this might be possible but if you are doing something that has already existing solutions, you better make sure your solution is at least in some way par with them.

    If an acquisition brings you a severance package, you weren't contributing value to the company before it was sold.
    OR the company who bought you already has many employees with similar skills than you.

    But creating a new web service is not rocket science and does not take a lot of time or money. My rule of thumb is that it should take no more than 3 months to go from conception to launch of a new web service. And that's being generous. I'm speaking from experience here. I developed the first version of ONElist over a period of 3 months, and that was while working a full-time job.
    What an utter bull%&#!

    This guy has coded one little program that he runs on internet ("web service" as he calls it) and then he considers himself expert of everything and generalizes the work it took him to code that application to every program that has html interface. I would really like him to code for example a multilanguage e-commerce platform for real world use that handles tens of thousand simultaneous customers in 3 months and without "lot of money" and then write another article about the subject.

    Our company has been programming a business "web service" for a global customer for about 1,5 years now and it definitely was not even in a prototype stage in 3 months, few real world projects that have real customer are. AND we are profitable, still in slight stealth mode and have no VC money.

    I think a tablet pc would be ideal for graphic design people.

    Not just because you could actually use the screen for drawing but because it's much easier to present your stuff to customers when you can turn your screen.

    We do not have the computing power or the bandwidth to simulate human thought.
    YET. In few years we will have. And in the next few years we can simulate a human brain kind of structure with 10 times more neurons than humans have.

    To be honest, I'm a little bit scared. This will eventually lead to intelligent computers and this time their intelligence will be real intelligence, not just preprogrammed conditions.

    these kind of computers, especially in india are meant to be shared among villagers of a village etc. It's quite normal that there is no persistent storage built in community computers.
