Try moving to web development. PHP is a very easy move from C (it's basically weakly-typed C without pointers), and if that turns you off, Python and Ruby shouldn't be that much more difficult to learn. You could also try contracting; there are many sites that probably still have quite a few gigs for C such as Guru, and you can sidestep the whole ageism thing since they usually won't even see your face. In any case, good luck with your job search.
1. Get some dust from the moon 2. Filter it, sanitize it, make it not kill someone who ingests it. 3. Put a microscopic amount into some of their cheese. 4. Market this topping as "moon cheese" at a premium price. 5. Profit!
(Probably best that they don't make it obvious what the process is behind this.)
Anything on the moon is a good idea. If there's one thing people need right now in the current recession, it's inspiration and a shared goal; what better than getting back to the moon?
(And before someone snipes my comment, I know it's not the only thing people need. But if it's a private business doing it, why the fuck not?)
Never said the West didn't have their own methods of censorship, just that they're not enforced by the Government and won't get you killed or enslaved. Usually.
They're not providing SFTP. They're not providing anything, from what I read, other than a "site builder"-type software package (which probably can't work with custom files). Basically, they're holding customers' sites hostage to a price increase.
They're completely screwed. They were screwed as soon as they used the Mario name in a non-parody way; adding to this that they're illegally distributing the original levels gives them a nice copyright infringement charge as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo skipped the C+D and just sued them outright.
Yes, because Oracle DB is completely different from MySQL, Oracle Linux is completely different from Solaris, and they have no competition between them whatsoever. Yup.
Unless they know what they want and don't find it in your primary encrypted drive, in which case they'll continue to beat you. What, you don't think they also know about plausibly deniable encryption?
The difference is that in China, if you dare to actually say that they're lying, you're liable to get reeducated, house-arrested, arrested, or just plain old shot.
Remember, traffic enforcement is about the safety of the public, not revenue generation.
Nope. Now, it's about revenue generation. Why? Because it's one of the few methods of revenue generation by a government that the people will accept. They don't want higher taxes, and they don't want spending cuts if they're using the program in question. I wouldn't be surprised if the fines associated with speeding tickets skyrocket as governments get more and more starved for funds.
I highly recommend it. I did move to the US from Canada to be with her, so whether or not you can find someone who'll match you well within your city is questionable, but seriously, give it a try before pay sites like eHarmony. (Not to mention that just by its nature, it's far more geek-friendly; the people behind the site code a lot of C++ and are big math people.) Protips: Answer as many of the questions as you can, since that's how it matches you. More questions answered equals better matches. Ask questions when you message people, and mention something specific to their profile. And for God's sake don't mention sex in your messages for a while unless that's specifically what you're looking for, since you're likely to creep relationship-seeking folks out.
He's probably fucked far longer than that; I know someone more than 10 years out from a felony conviction and it's still showing up on background checks. You may have to accept that it will always show up.
It's yet another end run around the fourth amendment. Expect more and more exceptions to it until it's nullified through exceptions in about ten to fifteen years. You won't see an amendment because that would be too hard to pass; instead, you'll see a huge list of things that are stated in the US Code specifically to be unquestionably "not unreasonable".
They'll charge whatever the market will bear. Luckily for them, they partially control the market too. Imagine what the market would bear if they acquired Verizon as well...
How exactly would a port that only accepts half a 3.5mm headphone connector work with a full 3.5mm headphone connector? Has Apple extended the reality distortion field to their products now?
I got the email for the referendum. Let's not say "OMG slippery slope!" quite yet, ok? If this continues to be voluntary, I have absolutely no problem with it. I won't personally turn it on because very little offends me, but if someone else doesn't want to view pictures of genetalia on their respective articles, I can understand that.

They'll get a "cut" by not allowing it on any of their hardware in lieu of their own.
What do you think the biggest opportunities for software businesses will be in the next five to ten years?

Nobody knows you're really Steve Jobs.

What the fuck are you talking about? My wife and I are both overweight and we met each other just fine.

Which, you know, is exactly how it should be.
Google is ignoring the links anyway since Slashdot made all user-posted links ref="nofollow" a few years back.

That was kinda the point I was driving at.

This is what happens when businesses and government consider "intellectual property" to be a great base for an economy.
