    According to the Russian news, allofmp3 has found a loophole in the Russian laws, which equated the music downloads to a (radio) broadcast as long as they pay the license fees. Allofmp3 is currently under investigation by the Russian Police because of a (local) conflict between two Russian licensing agencies, not because RIAA is after them.

    would you rather make $95k a year and wake up every single morning to go to a job you hate or make $75k (again, I have no idea how much Google pays their engineers) and do something you really enjoy. $95k vs. $75k. (for example) makes the difference of just $10k after you take into account the taxes and the difference in rent.

    They would actually get paid for learning, instead of the opposite.

    Once you are a graduate student you can become a Teaching or Research or Graduate Assistant. Then they will pay for your tuition, and pay you a small stipend.

    Imagine scores of internatational students, mostly from China, India, Eastern Europe come to USA with Master's degrees and no debt, and then earn Ph.D here while being TA/RA/GA. This way, scores of foreigners get Ph.D.in american universities by the age of 28 and have no debt whatsoever.

    If a crisis arises during shuttle Discovery's planned return to flight in May, Lindsey and a crew of three could be called upon to lift off aboard sister ship Atlantis on an emergency mission that would be the first in the history of human space exploration.

    Wouldn't they have to check and double check the rescue shuttle, looking for problems which caused mayday? If searching and fixing the malfunctions in the rescue shuttle takes even just a few days, wouldn't this rescue be too late?

    Yet people still pay through the nose for Windows. It's inexplicable. Most of the revenue came from sales to corporations, not individual persons. If this was up to me, all Universities and colleges, all government offices, research labs, etc etc should convert to Macs and Unix servers.

    Did you place a vote in the survey in the link? Currently, the votes are 41-54 in favor of "the comments are not offensive". What can one say about validity of the poll there after slashdotting the article? Though, I've expected it to be more skewed, since we all know who the majority of slashdotters are.
