Yeah, but the cool about the iHP-320 is that it can host your camera's USB. So you can ahead and offload 20gigs (or 40 for the iHP-340) worth of pictures onto the hard drive and keep snapping away. You get a nice portable ton of storage for alot less than high capactiy flash cards which are still nowhere near 40 gigs.

Given the Linux mentality, this probably means I'll end up with the Microsoft alternative. I don't mean that in a trolling way, I just haven't seen any examples to date of a consumer orientated (as opposed to corporation), for profit implementation of some of the neat Linux tools I read about on Slashdot all the time.

Once they hit production they should no longer do that... but until then, it comes with the terroritory... personally I'm amazed, and think it speaks greatly to the quality of Firefox and the lack of quality of IE that Firefox has such a showing in a beta state.

Also, if they can host USB on these to offload your camera pics that'd be a nice feature (like the iRiver iHP300 series audio players).

I don't know much of anything about Cold Fusion, when I started it was already on the decline and the price tag kept me from suggesting it to employers... but all I know is that the argument seems seriously flawed to me. Good PHP, good ASP, good JSP all are secure and scale just fine... and they're definitely easy to build on.

Yes, a poorly coded project is a poor product, there's no question about that. But, and call me greedy, I want the best implementation written in the best technology for my problem, not the best implementation written in the language where I'm likely to find the best developer.

BS. First, the expensive team of hardworking staff is going to be in place regardless of what OS you run, and second they're not that expensive.

In regards to your oft repeated "you can't even connect a new MS PC to the internet", I ask... what corporate client would? Almost all corporate settings are going to have a nice firewall between the internet and new computer... and on top of that, any corporate setting of a reasonable size will probably be ghosted with all of the security precautions already in place... or at the very list, the above mentioned expensive IT staff will go ahead and install the patches before plugging in the ethernet cable.

I have limited experience with Macs, and I think they're very nice... but they just don't wash out in the typical corporate environment in their current incarnations. A big part of that is the price point, a big part of that is the lack of software... the security is better, no doubt, but not better enough to overcome those two hurdles.

Odds are everyone here would pay for their own anyway, but it's a nice $500 a year raise for most people, which really doesn't hurt the company and fosters plenty of good will.

Of course, I have a company that very much has the attitude of make the employees happy... because then they do good work. I'm relatively new to the work force, but from everything I can see (and everything I can compare with friends at other companies) it's a very good philosophy.
