"Does it support all music players like the mp3 format? Then it's crippled."
where will your CD collection be in 20 years? probably where most of my vinyl and tapes went...in the trash
"Excuse me? You pay for nothing in disutribution costs, pay for no part of running the store, get 70% of every sale as pure profit, and this "doesn't look pretty"? You fucking whore, Mr. Lack"
you rock for that quote+
they're never going to go lower then $.99. maybe if you buy an entire album of something old and unpopular, but that won't be true for more than a year tops. you're delusional.
what is this speed problem that everyone is talking about with OS X Firefox? pages load so fast for me on my dual g5 that it's like switching channels on my TV. are you all serious? you're all talking about losing about 1-2 seconds of your life a week by using OS X firefox compared to other platform versions?
" this rumour was the deciding factor to go with an x86 based laptop over an iBook. "
you might have waited until it was officially announced.
regardless, OS X will be the better OS long-term as well as Linux. the last thing in the world i would do if this turns out to be true is buy a windows box
I really don't see this cutting into existing sales. "if" they switch chips, i'm sure the new machines won't run as well as the PPCs available today or next year, so everyone will have something to complain about+
it does clog. i started shaving in the shower and it doesn't clog anymore. of course it's a pain in the ass to shave if you don't have good lighting and have to hold a hand mirror up, but it beats smacking the handle on the rim of the sink to try and get the clog out. i finally broke the handle doing that
i just wonder why they can't hire a professional typesetter to sit with the new OS and fix their spacing problems.
EOD, MS just can't get their UI in order. While everything looks prettier because of slick elements like the top bars and other shiny details, they continue to not set information in proper grids or give typefaces proper spacing -- the sizes they spec type in would make most trained IAs or UI designers cringe.
OS UI 101 - line information up in tight grids and give type size priority based on the importance of the information.
as far as search tech goes, could Apple have pulled together a working version of Spotlight in only 2 months?
"A lot has been said on the topic, and quite a few folks seem to be under the impression that, because OS X has had a rapid upgrade cycle that this is going to continue. I tend to think that the rate of upgrades is going to slow. OS X is getting to be where Apple wants it. "
They announced your above statement above to the press -- stories ran everywhere maybe because it made a great FUD headline.
i work at a large agency in nyc and almost everyone throws apple's one button mouse out (actually in their cabinet drawers until they quit or get fired, and then it goes in the trash) and buys a multi-button mouse.
this has been true of most of the agencies i've worked at over the last 6 years.
who doesn't buy a new 2-3 button mouse when you get a mac nowadays? seriously? are you too daft to make a $10 purchase at a local computer store or online?
ugh...when did being available 24/7 become socially acceptable? i know doctors are sometimes on call 24/7, saving lives and all, but would it kill a big company to hire extra hands in the off-chance that their mission-critical networks go down or a new M$ problem is found? my nerves would go out the window if a client or client manager was able to request design changes in the middle of the night (even, say, because of time zone differences) and my work would suffer. i don't think i'm alone in this. I may be a little off topic at this point but it comes back to having my personal space and my employer no where in the peripheral.
that and i'll never buy a cell phone until they get rid of custom ringtones;)
"in this case the GPS means nothing to management other than insuring that a) the driver isn't lost, and b)the good name of UPS isn't parked outside the local strip join"
my mom says that she never sees any Fedex or UPS uniforms in the strip joint/brothel that she works in. she does see a lot of middle-management though taking 2 hour lunches.
"the good name of UPS"
Yes, yes, god forbid they soil themselves in the dirty pleasures of drink and loose men/women--insert national anthem
dear lord/god/goddess/statue/dust-bunny under the bed,
please make sure everyone that needs a windows laptop is blessed this holiday season with centrinos while others go hungry so that they may surf the web in starbucks in peace.
do you have a link to a legitimate article to back this up? i find it really hard to believe that someone such as yourself that is so concerned with noise-ratios would even listen to an mp3 player instead of a cd player.
Its the quality of the audio file you are listening to trend-spotter, not the player. an mp3 file doesn't change from player to player. the only thing that might change the sound quality from player to player are the headphones.

what good is it being smaller if it's still too hot to shove in a portable? that sounded dirty...mmmmmmmmmm...dirty
huge blow?
i guess MS didn't feel that way when they decided to load up the next version of the forthcoming xbox with them
but all of this is moot if nothing drastic is really changing today. pull your panties out of your heiner and wait and see.

I agree with the "graphic artist."
by your logic: as long as MS spends a lot of money on something, it will be qualified as good.

i've heard bad things about Jaguars too. Let's pretend he meant a high-end porsche ;)

your mom making you is my excuse

No, I'm in debt up to my ears and saved for a year to get an ipod. thanks for making generalizations though.
