I could install kde and in fact had it installed until I discovered K3b was the only KDE program I was using and KDE used more memory and diskspace (and update time) than I wanted to commit to a single program's dependencies.
While I agre with your main point I don't think you want to use a high performance graphics card if power is a concern. And AFAIK the Linux Ati drivers are a piece of shit.
K3b should focus on getting rid of KDE dependencies and they would have almost all CD-burning Linux Users as Userbase. As it is I am not installing KDE for a single program.
I think the GP chose his words poorly. Information is more like the air we breath, not like a currency. I hope nobody tries to limit breathing legally ever...
You can download faster than you upload and kill the download as soon as it is finished when you have not uploaded the same amount of data you downloaded. That is called leeching in BT.
If you notice something like that you should notice it in almost all Hollywood movies. Just watch for Industrial Light and Magic in the Credits, they are literally everywhere. They were actually founded by Lucas for the first Star Wars Trilogy AFAIK.
In Open Source UIs for development are usually not for a single programming language or compiler since the needed features are usually not so different for different languages and why reinvent the wheel over and over again. Oh, I see, to sell courses for the new GUI for 1000 bucks a day...
Perhaps it would be useful if Forums and other Subscription Services needing an email would publish their sending adress (or even better a PGP key with which the message would be signed) so one could easily see wether the mail comes from a legitimate source.
Sometimes I ask myself wether this is the reason our economy sucks: Insecure, incompetent managers.
They definitely are the one group with enough influence to ruin the economy, there are very few hard facts you can check for when hiring one and they are in a position where it is easy to hide their incompetence good enough not to be fired (too often).
While that might be true or not I don't believe most of those that used Linux as anything similar to a primary OS switched (back) to Windows. If anything they moved to other alternative OS.
What would we do if we wouldn't know all the important news in today's papers? What would we do if we wouldn't know how many people were bombed in Israel today and how many civilians the Israel military shot in response? What would we do if we didn't get the latest voting results from Timbuktu? What would we do if we didn't know of the traveller to Africa who came back with Malaria? What would we do if we couldn't read the latest "scientific" results about what is bad or good for us and how it will affect our lifespan?
I don't want to get dramatic but the real important news (like layoffs in an industry related to our own job e.g.) would spread without the big news sources and most of the rest is the same every day anyway.

You could still /. the tracker with a really big number of downloaders in a really short time.
I know what you mean about Firefox but why don't you try Opera?

If it worked flawlessly like Nero on Windows does it is worth some money to spare me a whole KDE just to use k3b.

Liquid Movements are pretty much ignored due to the high performance cost.
Then click back twice fast. Works in Opera. Or you could just open the history on the back button and select the page before the redirecting one.
You can do nothing with this that couldn't be done better with DNS Spoofing so it is not as if the problem was a new one...

Problably because it is almost compatible to AMD64 and thus not much effort to support.

As if snail mail were spam free...

Being in Real Player format they were unavailable to most of us even before they got posted on /. so there is no harm done.

Actually I believe only U.S. cops have killed (innocent) people for less than that.
(ignoring corrupted laws like the ones in Nazi Germany e.g. for the moment)
Or you could just sell it to the theaters as a solution for cell phone users in the theater annoying other customers.
The average computer user doesn't buy software for the US military either. What was your point?
Actually it is the right answer to exactly one problem: You want a different approach than the original developers in developing an OSS app
So you prefer a "fuck the developers" attitude?
