I've also seen "Java" misused when they're really just looking for a programmer that can handle that style of syntax
Why would you want programmers that are comfortable (see nothing wrong in) with syntax that is patched up from lots of independent parts with absolutely no underlying concept? I would rather have programmers that recognize a good, consistent syntax when they see it than Java Programmers.
While I agree with you about Bill Gates in general I wouldn't dub him "Antichrist" since that would imply Christianity was good and judging by the history of this religion I strongly doubt that.
Those keyboards "didn't catch on" because they only work like they should when you type with ten fingers in the traditional position. Most people either don't use 10 fingers at all or don't use the strict "this-key-is-only-allowed-with-that-hand" rules. I am of the latter kind, I often type with one hand only when I use the mouse with the other for short commands in Linux or for keyboard shortcuts and the split keyboards are totally useless for that working style. So I stay with the normal keyboard which doesn't give me any problems at all and is much cheaper.
I do the same (normal mouse for years without problems). The worst devices regarding wrist-problems are hand-writing ones, I have to use them once every six months for exams and I my hand and wrist ache like hell after the exam-season (and after writing 90 minutes or so of the usually 2 hour exams).
I think it is much better to fight for a TV Show than to fight "for your country" which usually means "for the dumb idiots that call themselves politicians and have a problem with power hunger"
And who decides what this mysterious "company" you talk of provides? Last time I checked even in companies decisions were made by people and people can be convinced to use something better if you have good arguments.
It might not be useless from an abstract point of view but if 100% of the people using it do useless things with it on the web it can be considered useless for all practical purposes.
I want graphics where it is useful. The Flash kind generally is not. Since I often multi-task (e.g. surfing and watching a movie) I don't like sound on websites, on most sites I want to open links in new Windows and I want to use my Opera mouse gestures. All of these are impossible with Flash so no, there are no benefits (except with flash I know which sites NOT to visit twice).
So let us just say we don't want the web to change in that direction, the direction where there are more ads than content, only totally healthy people as in good eyesight,... can use it and no browser is able to add comfort-functions (like "Open in new window") and people not using Windows are second-class-users. Flash is a big step in that direction and we just don't like it.
I guess he meant less end-users use the players => less developers develop flash sites => flash dies
And you simply have to realize that the problem is not the lack of technologies for media rich content but the lack of end users interested in media rich content (e.g. web sites with sound are about the most annoying thing I know on the web, as are websites without the ability to open links in a new window when I want to)
It has nothing to do with traditionalistic views. Flash sites just feel wrong and annoy the hell out of me. And don't start with examples of "good" Flash sites, the problem lies with the player not the.swf files.
I don't think that is the problem with Java or Flash. I think the people capable to develop a Flash Player or Java Compiler/Runtime from Scratch are simply not interested in using those two and the interested ones are not capable.
Please tell me where you get the info that people want "rich interactive media for the web". When you realize you can not answer this question you see why there are no Open Source equivalents to Flash.
I agree. I would even go so far to say I refuse to watch ads regardless of wether I paid for the TV show or not. Perhaps I would start if they started targeted ads with topics I am interested in and perhaps even ads that don't say "Our product is better than all products from the same category" or "Since I started using X my whole life has changed and become perfect". The latter means I want information about the product, I can assume for myself that they think their product is the best, all companies do THAT.
I never had a PDF xpdf couldn't read but I had a few that crashed Acrobat for Linux. The Interface is all I need (a.k.a. not bloated). So there is no Idealism involved.
Actually, SMTP being a multicast protocol (you can send something once and multiple people receive it) it is very easy to send one big file to 1000s of people with SMTP.
I think either patents or closed source software should be outlawed. After all what is the point of hiding the source if your methods are protected by patents and of what use are patents if everyone with enough money to make sueing worthwhile hides their code?

No, it wouldn't look like a 403 Forbidden Error.

Mh, another argument FOR cutting them off.
More likely: ISPs would leave that State alone and move to other, more sane ones.
1. Macs are only visible to directly connected devices
2. Macs can be changed by Software

Even if that means Flash will be blocked in future Browsers when the Annoyance/Usefulness Ratio of Flash gets shifted even more towards Annoyance?

What is wrong with hating America and Jesus?
Prior Art...Prior Art...I heard that before...Ah, yes...I read in a history book that concept was related to patents a few decades ago.

Why should patents have anything to do with Microsoft buying companies in the EU, or what kind of "Development" did you have in mind?
