    I haven't noticed a problem in New York, though I confess I've only been there a few weeks in total. I suspect these incidents are few and far between.

    Generally, nothing. People love going on about this, but in every city I've lived in (Canberra, Sydney, Toronto, and London )the public transport has been clean. You're much more likely to run into disastrous misplacement of bodily fluids on the street.

    Those fossils have been found. Thousands of examples exist. It's just that those who deny evolution seem to lose interest once directed to the scientific literature to read about those examples.

    Unfortunately, minor variations on passwords also mean hours of frustration trying to get your password/username combination right. Telling people to have a different password for every site is just useless advice--no one can remember that many passwords. More practical advice would be use different passwords for sites where money could be stolen from you, for everything else, use a "junk" password.

    As I understand it, a country cannot "save" for the future like an individual can. People have to be supported when they retire with work from other people--money doesn't do it, it will just devalue.

    I've played around with freenet. I don't know how secure it is, but in any case that was irrelevant, because it was unusably slow (on my 2mb up/20mb down ADSL2 connection). And we're not talking 56k slow here, we're talking 5-10 minutes for a page of text with a couple of little pictures. It's meant to get faster the longer you leave it on. It didn't in the four days I had it running.
