Apple will continue to sell their own cases containing Apple-designed motherboards that just happens to have an Intel chip in it. I seriously doubt that OS X (Intel) will be able to run on anything but Apple's hardware. That does not follow with Apple's history of business.

That has got to be a joke. I don't really have any strong devotion to Apple but I think that their HW/SW technology is very nice. My experience with Spotlight on all my Power* machines has been great.

I own a couple of dual CPU PowerMacs, a PowerBook, an HP Pavillion 7000 or 8000 series laptop (can't remember), 7 Intel boxes running everything from *BSD to Linux to Windows to OS/2.

We have a perl regex that is 80 lines line (one item per line). I get the willies just thinking about utilizing that kind of power in a C program.

Also, for true speed increases in Perl, don't use the RegEx engine. Use hashes. That alone will speed you Perl program exponentially.

As for the documentation, yes, I love the way PHP has set it up. Perl's manpages are nice, but still harder to read and slower to access. The php.net/function redirect is a very nice idea, indeed :)
That's the one thing Perl needs to improve. Also, the php.net/function website allows for users to offer lessons learned while using a particular function. It would be sooooooooo nice to have a Perl equivalent. Sooooooooooooooo nice.

Symantec has issued yet another warning that the world will end as soon as all the worms and viruses unite against true carbon-based life forms. Symantec CEO John W. Thompson was quoted as saying, "If people would have heeded all our warnings about the coming war between reality and virtual reality we would not be headed for certain doom." At that point he started crying as his company's stock soared to record highs.

Up next, Symantec issues a warning to the Mac/UNIX community saying that their computers are too safe from Windows-based viruses. "We can no longer support operating systems that flaunt their security in face of corporate IT managers everywhere when millions of starving children are dying of malnutrition."

    if you type:

I don't agree at all. I think the main reason people thought I & II were bad was because they weren't instant gratification movies. Character development done right is a very difficult thing to do in a movie. There just isn't enough time. This is the norm for books. If the reader couldn't get into the mind of the characters the book would be dull.
