  1. Microsoft is doing it wrong on "Apple Tax" Report Backfires On Microsoft · · Score: 3, Insightful

On a high end window's machine you can easily spend just as much. That being said, Apple's generally are more expensive, but that being said, is it really a wise move for Microsoft to point this out? Shouldn't they just get some comedians to point out how Apple is full of chic jerks and PC's are where real computing is done?

  3. Rochester on Time Warner Broadband Cap Trial Rescheduled In Texas · · Score: 5, Insightful

As a Rochester Time Warner customer myself and my friends who are also customers are pretty upset about all of this. The big problem is that as far as broadband goes choices are slim. Either Time Warner, or Earthlink, who buys its bandwidth from Time Warner. Beyond that its either Clearwire, Frontier DSL, both of which suck, or shell out a ton for a commercial grade installation in your house/apartment, which probably isn't actually an option. I've already said that if someone like Verizon were to introduce FiOS to the area at the same time Time Warner did this, they'd probably have a lot of people jump ship...

Even as security gets more complex, so too will the hackers, especially those funded or controlled by organized crime. Your best bet is to use robust security, and never, ever assume that the Internet, or any network, is a safe place.

I love a good Jack Thompson headline these days, makes me feel better about myself.

I suppose that to really look at the correlation you'd have to look at a lot of schools as different trends will show up in different environments. Tech Schools versus Liberal Arts etc. On the other hand I have a friend who's very anti social, but also isn't really very interested in studying either.

Could it be that the same quiet kids in high school that kept to themselves, studied and did well in school, are the same kids that are less likely to get into anything with the word social in it? I think its just more likely that facebook attracts the social people who spend less time worrying about schooling, and shows no interest to the people who are brainy loners.

You're right, but as the other people that replied to you pointed out a C&D letter is the prelude to a lawsuit. My bigger point was that the strong arm reactionary tactics that seem to be increasingly common have not shown to produce desired results.
