    My response was directed at:

You don't have any right too someone else's property just because you think it's too expensive.

I chose that statement to respond to for several reasons unrelated to microsoft or windows.

If you honestly think I was comparing starving to needing an operating system, ugh...

I was showing an example where desperation (near death) makes the right of the baker to own large amounts of expensively priced bread less than the right of the starving orphan to eat that bread.

And thus, the statement I responded to is not true in all cases, if we are to take a humanistic position on the morality or legality of property ownership.

Television channels run ads as a way to pay for costs. Now, if you were to say something like
"Don't mute the TV when the ads are on, that's STEALING!", "AGAINST CAPITALISM" or "IMMORAL", we'd rightly laugh at you.

Same thing with anything on the net, they can display ads 24/7 at every mouse click, but I reserve the right to block/mute/close/ignore them.

Even google's non-obstrusive ads annoy people.

Crying about people ignoring advertisements is beyond pathetic.

No matter how long it takes, eventually, binary drivers will be broken and the developer who wrote it will probably not want to rewrite it.

Why not have it opensource? Any programmer that has the know-how can do the chore, then.

Look at the Win9X drivers that don't work with NT, 2000, and XP. You may say "it's a different kernel" but that's exactly the same problem with Linux. Only difference is that Linux kernel development is much, much faster than MS's. Sure, it'd be nice if a driver compiled for version x.x.1 worked with x.x.4, but it's even easier to just recompile it.
(One could always try force-loading the module so as to ignore version info.)

And, if you don't care about the license of software, why not use windows? Your hardware will probably work on it.
