You don't have any right too someone else's property just because you think it's too expensive.
I chose that statement to respond to for several reasons unrelated to microsoft or windows.
If you honestly think I was comparing starving to needing an operating system, ugh...
I was showing an example where desperation (near death) makes the right of the baker to own large amounts of expensively priced bread less than the right of the starving orphan to eat that bread.
And thus, the statement I responded to is not true in all cases, if we are to take a humanistic position on the morality or legality of property ownership.
Television channels run ads as a way to pay for costs. Now, if you were to say something like "Don't mute the TV when the ads are on, that's STEALING!", "AGAINST CAPITALISM" or "IMMORAL", we'd rightly laugh at you.
Same thing with anything on the net, they can display ads 24/7 at every mouse click, but I reserve the right to block/mute/close/ignore them.
Even google's non-obstrusive ads annoy people.
Crying about people ignoring advertisements is beyond pathetic.
No matter how long it takes, eventually, binary drivers will be broken and the developer who wrote it will probably not want to rewrite it.
Why not have it opensource? Any programmer that has the know-how can do the chore, then.
Look at the Win9X drivers that don't work with NT, 2000, and XP. You may say "it's a different kernel" but that's exactly the same problem with Linux. Only difference is that Linux kernel development is much, much faster than MS's. Sure, it'd be nice if a driver compiled for version x.x.1 worked with x.x.4, but it's even easier to just recompile it. (One could always try force-loading the module so as to ignore version info.)
And, if you don't care about the license of software, why not use windows? Your hardware will probably work on it.
They are motivated to kill for reasons of: Poverty (nothing material to lose) Suicidal Despair (feelings of low self-worth, an easy way out and prospect of being a 'hero') Revenge (family member or friend killed by the enemy) Religion (god's will trumps everything) Nationalism (the nation is ours, damnit! death to the foreign devils!)
Which can ONLY mean you believe in a form of Super-Fast evolution, being able to speciate say, a pair of beetles into the 10s of thousands of species now in the world today..
I love this logic..
You don't believe in natural evolution->You believe in the Flood->You believe in supernatural evolution
That'd be the Communist party.
Yes.. I understand that.
But, I was thinking that the decision would be to delay the decision. Color me cynical.

Nonsense!
If this chip was really found in a taxi, the guy could have sent it to the company's lost and found for reclamation.
Thanks for completely missing the point, as usual.

tell that to the starving orphan about the rich baker's bread.
things aren't as simple as you'd like to think.
Someone from here.
Yep, it seems the grandparent installed IE.

Or maybe they were bullshitting.
Incorrect.

If I were to save you from a mugger and then ask you to help me rob someone else, would you?
Even then, you can just set a camcorder in front of the little screen.
Hey! That's an excellent idea that could be used on the big screen.. I think I'll go to the theater tonight and record a crappy film.
Some did... and were terrorised and thrown in prison for it. The rest did what they were told, or left the country.
"If you don't like the way our country is run, then leave."
It'd create jobs, so why not? (Construction, sign-painting robots and the people who build them, truck drivers, IT.. etc)
And replacing all those mile-marks on the highway... imagine how many jobs that would make!
It's not like there are a surplus of jobs around..
Are you trying to say vi has no 'extra' features?
It's no emacs, I grant you, but it's certainly not slim.
You'd think that people who use webmail would be the first to use quality webbrowsers that allow the disablement of such annoyances.
Let's try that again..
You either trust man and what he says about what God said about creation, or you trust man and what he says of it.
The difference is only one concerning which person or group you trust to be more honest.I don't know about you, but I like the honesty that's integral to science.
