Bill Gates (Turning to Face Linus): Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design.
Bill Gates: Your friends up there at the sanctuary website [indicates sourceforge] are falling into a trap.
Linus reacts. Bill Gates notes it
Bill Gates: As is your open source community
Bill Gates: It was I who allowed the Open Source Community to know the source code of Windows Installer XML (WiX) developer tool. It is quite safe from your pitiful little band. An entire legion of my best Coders awaits them.
Linus' look darts from Bill Gates to Steve Ballmer and, finally, to the Tablet PC in Bill Gates hand.
Bill Gates: Oh...I'm afraid the Trusted Computing Architecture will be quite operational when your friends arrive.
you can also get a Great Panasonic 42 EDTV for that price (and it blows away my projection CRT HDTV - sony). Remember, when it comes to TV's what you care about is 'eye candy' and there are many EDTV plasmas that look much better than HDTV plasmas.
the particularly good models are Panasonics, and from what I hear, the new Sony lines .
Because it sucks! Lucas (assuming it is him) explains that the 'Greedo shoots first' will remain to fix an obvious "FLAW" in Han's character . . the hero would never shoot first?!?!?!?! ARGGGGGhhh - Nothing that sucks this much gould be an april fool
One could already argue that there is a tax on the Linux operating system, although it is not a 'tax' in the ordinary definition of the word.
In real terms, the amount of money required to create a Linux installation on any give computer is not only actual, but as well.
.
.
.
Furthermore, a tax need not be a percentage of the sales price or a percentage at all, and in this case it certainly follows what is known as a 'Flat Tax' or set dollar amount.
SCO has clearly set the tax for using Linux as $699 per seat, or your first born child - whichever comes first.
I haven't brushed up on the law concerning publishing exploits in either France or the US, but it seems a little ridiculous to indict someone for pointing out a security hole.
Sure it can be said that publishing an exploit will encourage a hacker to take advantage of said exploit, but by not publishing & letting it remain a secret is no guarantee that someone is not exploiting that same exploit. In fact, I'm willing to bet that some 3v1| H4x0r would eventually find it anyway. But I would rather know that it exists so that I may act, since, in my experience software companies are slow to react and try to hide or downplay flaws.
Security solely by obscurity doesn't work.
On the flip side, if the door to my house was wide open, I wouldn't want anybody yelling hey your door is wide open (to the world) without allowing me to fix it.
IMO it boils down to common sense, and in this case I think that it is a beneficial thing to publish that sort of information. An even better route would be to alert the software makers first, and give them a 'short' time to release a patch. But only a very short time.
Has anyone considered how this will affect (or even effect) the ease of gambling at sporting events. This could allow for betting on individual free throws in basketball, whether a play will be overturned in football, individual innings in baseball (you can even change your bet real time, double down etc).
Discipline your body, GraceHopper, that you may find a greater power. . . . Those who surrender themselves find inner strength...When the heart knows no danger, no danger exists. When the soul becomes the warrior all fear melts as the snowflake that falls upon your hand
how to build a lego gun. It had a little lego triger and when you pulled it a lego would shoot forward (well more of a mid arching parabola, but you get the picture).
anyway, what reminded me of that was the fact that the last 'lego' I remember playing with had blood and guts all over it.
Tech TV covers some interesting things, however, if you are an experienced 'net user you have probably seen everything they cover well in advance of when it actually airs. They even covered gray area things like , DVD copying, password "recovery", etc., sometimes I just scan it to get a reminder about new gadgets and such ..To summarize sometimes it will bring info to you that you probably would have otherwise thought of, but forget to check on etc. Albeit not the extremely technical stuff.
It can also be used as a quick reminder of the current HOT tech topics, personally, I forget alot of stuff that I am interested in because there is so much.
Maybe I summarize too much in my responses. But this is what I mean when I sy Monopoly. (I have not Shepardized this case of course)

In U.S. v. Grinnell (384 U.S. 563)
Mr. Justice DOUGLAS delivered the opinion of the Court.
This case presents an important question under Section 2 of the Sherman Act, which makes it an offense for any person to "monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several States."
The offense of monopoly under Section 2 of the Sherman Act has two elements: (1) the possession of monopoly power in the relevant market and (2) the willful acquisition or maintenance of that power as distinguished from growth or development as a consequence of a superior product, business acumen, or historic accident.

Later (to steve Ballmer) I have the Senate bogged down in procedures. They will have no choice but to accept your control of the system.
Much later, in Seat..(an undisclosed location)

Either that, or they raise the ticket prices by a % equivalent to what they would 'loose' on giving away the free stuff. NOTHING IS FREE
