"But because the discs pack data densely and the music is compressed using methods similar to that of MP3 software, each can contain up to five albums of music."

Should we start getting a 10,000th visitor contest going, or do you think the initial rush will die down soon?
I just had to comment on this, even though its not necessarily important (its impressive).
According to The World Factbook, the total area of South Africa is 1,219,912 sq km. The article at the BBC website said that if the 300 m asteroid would've hit London, France and England would have been destroyed. According to the World Factbook, the total area of the UK is 244,820 sq km and France is 547,030 sq km. Adding these two numbers together results in 791,850 sq km. This is a far cry from the total area of South Africa.
You know, the ultimate winner of the debate between HP and LOTR is AOL Time Warner: they produced both movies and are making huge sums of money from both! I think AOLTW will be playing up the "agression" between the two books for the next two years as they'll be releasing the movies a month apart.
My friend just came back from Christmas vacation in HK and he brought back a DVD version (complete with DD 5.1 audio!) of LOTR. However, the video is actually someone taping the LOTR with a VHS (I suspect) Camcorder and then moving that on to the DVD.
As per your thanks for the quote: you're welcome. And I thank you for adding much to my appreciation of Franklin's quote; I actually never thought how much the "essential" meant in his quote until you pointed it out. Thanks again!
Made a mistake on the quote: from http://www.cp-tel.net/miller/BilLee/quotes/Frankli n.html, Franklin says "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
[Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.]
At the University of Chicago, we actually do have a pub in the basement of Ida Noyes Hall. However, I think we were rated number 300 out of the top 300 party schools in the nation, so this isn't a big deal for us.
if you don't value the movie AOTC enough to wait to buy a ticket to see it, why do you value downloading a copy on your computer?

I hate to nit-pick, but his name is actually J.S. Mill, without the "s."

According to the letter [http://www.macintouch.com/postoffice.html], the cds inside of the post office were demo cds, and not the full version of Windows XP.
Hello:
AOLTW owns New Line Cinema. Here is a link: http://aoltimewarner.com/about/index.html.

Yeah, that would make more sense than using VHS.
Yeah, there are Chinese characters that appear at the bottom.
... In Hong Kong, that is.

Interesting how the government body uses the word "classification" instead of censorship ...

Hello:
Wasn't the exact quote: "Those who give up liberties for short-term security deserve neither liberty nor security"?

Actually, the article says, and I quote, "The service, which will be available only to those with high-speed Internet connections..."
