I don't think this is the case, according to our current knowledge of space/time.

Isn't it more the case that if they were to TELL us they were coming over to earth via radiowaves, he 'wouldn't be here for 50,000 years', but given that he can get to earth in, say, 5 minutes, why would he send a radio message in the first place, given that he'd beat it? It would APPEAR to the alien that they were on earth '50,000 years on' if they checked a telescope before they travelled, and compared the visual outcome when they arrived, but actually in real time, he would arrive 5 minutes later by both of their watches.

You'd be surprised how, in the UK at least, it's a 'normal' thing for people right through to their early 30s to be registered on. I guess we're more accepting over here of things like MySpace, but people certainly see the positive benefits - it's a central hub for friends and mutual friends to easily keep in touch, especially when they're a few 100 miles apart.

Why do people keep spreading this myth of pressed audio CDs degrading so fast? I've said it a few times here, and I'll say it again, I've got Cds from when Cds were first released and they're exactly the same as they were, when they were bought, back in the early 80s. I don't have a single audio CD that doesn't play, aside from the ones I've scratched in my car.

And CD expiry, to an extent is a myth which has never really been tested fully. My dad has CDs from when CDs were first released (early 1980) which still work as well as new, and I have some CDrs from 10 years ago which still work as new.
