Not just that, but here are discussions about problems some people might encounter and the possible causes and solutions or just helpful hints. I use Slashdot as a resource, not as my main newsfeed about updates.
Most of my users can barely open their email, I am not kidding. I train them to screenshot and mail the error message, this way I have found is the fastest to get the problem solved. YMMV
And Presto, the printer wasn't connected to the USB port because the driver conflicts with something else on the machine and now the user can't work at all. Guess who will get the blame for that one, not the person connected stuff to the computer without permission.
This is exactly why the first point in the article complains about people bypassing the Helpdesk is a thing that annoys sysadmins so much, there are procedures that people don't follow.
Not just this, but personally I want to know what is being done on our PC's, for the simple reason, if it causes another problem (for the user or for the network), if I have the knowledge of what has been done, I can take that into account for the solving of problems.
If you have a question about a password reset, then it is cheaper to go through the Helpdesk, this is not about arrogance (for most anyway), let the sysadmin solve the tough problems, let him update his hard and software. You don't ask a brainsurgeon about a pimple.
Traffic laws should only be changed if things aren't working out safetywise. Here in the Netherlands a traffic accident with bicycles/scooters is actually quite rare, so here we are doing fine. A bigger problem is people using their cellphone while driving their car.
You seem to have no idea about dutch traffic laws. While driving on the road, I will come up to a sign that says that I have to move myself and my scooter to the bicycle path, probably because it was deemed that the following road situation is too hazardous for the scooter. And please don't call me names, I haven't been rude to you.
In the Netherlands, we drive our scooters on the bicycle path a lot of the time (at least for the part where I pass the cars). So I am not breaking any traffic laws:)
Not for me, but I don't have a driver's license:) I use a scooter to go to work, 10 minute trip, passing by all the cars that look like they are parked on the road instead of driving, yay for traffic jams:)
Ask a friend to pretend to be a prospective employer, let them ask the questions by email (so you have it black on white) If they reply in a negative fashion, then you sue the bastards.
This is correct, that is why we are not rolling out Windows 8 from my IT department. Besides the fact that we never roll out a new OS this young. Let other people beta it first, Win7 is doing fine so far.
Don't replace the Mac Mini until it breaks or you want to do stuff on it that doesn't work anymore, replacing it because it has lost support is a bit of a waste I think.
Correct, I am using it on my personal laptop and on my PC at work, it is fast and stable enough so far. My home PC is still running win7 but that's because it is stable and if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.
Members saluting/standing at attention :)
Yeah, but he tastes a bit stringy
Darwin was just making sure :)
Just because you can't get into it doesn't mean it sucks, just that you have a different taste.

I can totally understand that, here in the Netherlands however, us scooter drivers often have to share the bicycle path by law.

Here we have signs like this: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uZh1eqAvzak/T7Pl3mWBfLI/AAAAAAAAAj0/2PgDN807HkM/s1600/Brom-fiets+bord.png
On these bicyclepaths I am not allowed to drive on the road.

If anything was News for Nerds, this is it.
It's an anti-piracy measure, simple as that (and probably sending home some gathered stats)

And you have a place to swipe the card there :)
Time to install the NFC reader in the butt/vagina.
Bonus ;)
