X can run on pda's. Can Xf86? I think not. Hell Xf86 takes about 70 megs of ram while the competitors take 4-8???
It doesn't take up so much memory. The number you see in the process list is XFree86 memory + video memory + memory reserved by X upon request or user applications
That doesn't really apply to this case though. I have heard that NVidia series 52xx drivers for Linux (and 5328 is a product from this tree) is a full remake as the 42xx series were not designed as they should be, to work with FX series of hardware.
If you have a very new hardware (newer then your OS), then you should upgrade either your OS or it's drivers.
In the case of Debain, this means upgrading to testing or unstable.
There is a rumor that Debian 'unstable' branch is as unstable as the stable branch of RedHat, but I cann't confirm that, as I haven't used RedHat in ages.:) I just can say that Debian 'unstable' is stable, while 'stable' is simply rock solid.
The 828 model also has a CF slot, so it's not that bad anymore. and, as I already said, this camera can focus AND take pictures in full darkness using a laser to focus and taking pictures in IR light. It will look all green, just your night visor, but it's a cost you must pay:)
I would reccomend a 5 Megapixel Sony F717 - it has the best lens and can focus in complete darkness and even make night shots. It also has the best lens in it's price range - F2.0-F2.4. If you want the best, then go for the new F828, it has 8 megapixels, CF support and all the new great features that all the other cameras below 5K$ range lack badly.
I bought my 717 for 650$ a month ago, and 828 is sold at 1000$ now.
Buy a notebook and do your work from any place, it'll be much cheaper then a new apartment AND you'll be able to work from a large variety of places. Use WiFi or GPRS if/when you need the network connectivity.
Also good idea is IP telefony with the folks back in the office, that let's you stay in contact without acctually going there or paying astronomical phone bills.
I can sometimes feel the cabin sindrom if I work at home for the whole day, but I am ussualy saved by a good radio station or, preferably, by my girlfriend (you should get yourself one too! It is a very interesting piece of equipment in itself;))
The UN? The UN is just short of owned by 1 billion oil-supplying muslims. That wouldn't be so bad at all, if the muslim world hadn't been a poverty-stricken, politically-faltering, violence-promoting human-life-has-no-value culture at the core of which lies Jihad upon which quite a large chunk of the world's next generation of muslims are raised. Even richer arab countries like Saudi Arabia are extremely polarized between westernization-seekers and this ugly side of the Islam.
You are so far off on this, that if you were shooting, you wouldn't hit the Earth while standing on it.
Muslims are no better and no worse then christians or buddists or what-ever-other-religion. There are near-atheists and fanatics in any religion (including Linux:)) and fanatism is always a bad thing as a fanatic has no logic what so ever.
Back on topic, I think that we must clearly separate big objects (stars, planets, moons, black holes) and everything else.
Big object shall not be claimed as a whole, but one should be able to claim the territory that one is using (under buildings).
And we could use "first phisical claim" principle for other objects (first personal landing claims the territory).
I would say that synaptic is a lot less usable then aptitude or even plain old apt-get/apt-cache.
You must use grafical sytems where you really need them - WYSIWYG editing, Web, Graphics design, whatever. But where the functionality is a must - text mode UI is at its best!
How on earth he got modded to +5 for such a ridiculously false statement is a true testament to the level of knowledge of most /. mods these days.
First post effect?

XFree86 itself uses 8-9 Mb RAM.

Are you avare of a grave security bug in 2.4.22, that lets any shell user get root?
That was the reason, Debian servers got hacked. Upgrade to 2.4.23 ASAP!
I'd say "windows without MS" (mind the case)
at 2 in the night that is. :)
Then those poor night glow fishes would all be eaten already by those hungry /.ers going pass the the aquarium to the fridge.

And the unlucky bastard that lost a key with 150+ signatures and didn't get the official mail is ..... me.
I actually choose this type of key because I was thinking that it was MORE secure, silly me.
But it is quite strage that I didn't get the mail as my key is on the public servers. Well, thanks to KjetilK.
Yes, "work", but unfortunately that is a too harsh step for many involved parties, so it must be revised before implementation.
