It makes me wonder why it takes so long.. I guess they have to dodge their own spyware, so nobody will notice.. Anyone could detect spyware, if somehow you could CRC your entire hard drive, then compare the CRC every night.. But only toward DLL's and COM's, and EXE's, they don't change.. Well Bill Gates exists because he can,

And he thinks, I believe, if Ayn Rand is his
inspiration, that he, like some who believe Karma (I don't) that he exists to do what he does..

However, in each of us, there is good and evil, and its up to us to determine which will rule over us..

Bill's faith lies in his money and his work,
as long as he has that, he can be complacent.. What drives him, this is just one large game.. He doesn't see good and bad, he sees only what he wants to see.. But he's confused when the world doesn't believe what a great guy he is.. To him, this industry exists because he is.. He's so big, that when he becomes little, he loses his respect for himself.. This is why he acts the way he does.. His strength is all in what he owns and his power over the industry.. That is his respect for himself.. Some can be thankful for what they have.. But can
Bill be thankful for what he has..

It says in the bible.. HE who has will be given more.. And he who hasn't, even what he does have, will be taken from him.. This means, if you aren't thankful for what you have, be prepared to have it taken away.. And if someone is given more, don't be jealous, or in your distraction, what you have will be taken from you..

  7. Bills points always leave you half-way.. on Bill Gates Interview w/ Spiegel · · Score: 2, Insightful

    His point is:

Non-Windows OS's are less of a security risk because they are not popular... However, Windows binaries don't change often, which makes them a clear target.. If windows source code was available, we would really know how vulnerable they are.. However Linux source is open, so we can really know how vulnerable it is..

The other problem I have with Bill's point on having one point of failure over many points, is that if the one point of failure has a high probability of failure, having more of it makes you more vulnerable than if you had several points of failure with less of a probability (due to being unpopular). His counter discussion for that is "you don't want to train your tech people on many operating systems, they will not be able to manage all the security flaws".. However, training of windows cost, and windows changes to encourage people to upgrade. So in effect Microsoft has sold us many operating systems, windows 98, nt 3, nt 4, xp , me, 2000 ..
Sure he'd just love everyone to have just XP.. But with the release of longhorn, this just fragments it all over again..

You can use one kind of linux, it just gets better, and it doesn't cost you anything.. What he won't address is that the art of the operating system has pretty much been perfected, and Microsoft is just finding ways to distract people away from arriving at a real solution.. 12. The reason why Microsoft adopted XML on Microsoft Office Formats Not Really Being Opened · · Score: 1

    No methods..

    Think about it..

ITs an all data format, it requires libraries to
create and to interpret.. Very easy to leverage a data format..

However and object (which is data with code)
is harder to leverage. Leveraging is a term used to describe the process by which a business corners clients into a monopoly, aka vendor lockin..

Data formats are very easy to leverage, objects are harder to leverage because the data can't be accessed, but through a method interface.. That means the data can change, but it can't become incompatible due to such changes because the data us not being interfaced with directly, the methods are.. So if you standardize the methods, the data can't influence changes in the software that uses the data, unless the method set changes..

If people adopt a object standard for documents instead of a data standard, you will find less and less vendors capable of leveraging formats in their favor.. Its the leveraging of these formats that keep them in business and encourage people to upgrade their software..

ITs the reason I believe Open Source applications should adopt objects as the framework for standards,
primarily for documents and movies and images.. That would make it really tough for vendors to lock people into unfair business relationships..

And is the reason Microsoft will not adopt a object based data format, it will only adopt stuff like XML which is a form of deception, its human readable, but if its encrypted/encoded with magic words and random ids, what does that matter?

Unless there is a basic understood, open source driven method interface to the many kinds of data, there will be no justice..
