  1. Re:Something to put my mind off Spiderman on Transformers Full Theatrical Trailer Available · · Score: 1

First of all, most cartoons back then were rubbish. Have you watched an old episode of He-man lately? That's the most homo-erotic thing ever put on television.

The toys were what made it great. See, you've got it backwards. The toys got ppl to watch the cartoon, not the other way around. I can only barely remember the cartoons, but i remember hours and hours of playing with the toys. To this day, i can't walk by a transformer without at least transforming it once.

Something that i already don't like about this movie is the way they transform. In the cartoon, you could watch one transform and thats exactly how the toy did it. (well megatron only kinda did, that annoyed me) But the others took into account the size and shape of what they were suppose to be and then turned into a robot, These kinda look like big clumps of metal that just kinda morph into what they are suppose to be and hide it behind fast movements.

Zelda has had many different looks and styles of game play, Link to the Past being one of my favorites, but as the article points out, since going 3d the games have been basically the same. They feel more like a skinned version of Ocarina then a whole new game. As much as I love Zelda, it is starting to get a little repetitive. So a fresh gameplay system with a totally new way to interact with the land of Hyrule, might not be such a bad idea.

    and to the parent:

I remember as a young lad LOATHING the second zelda game, and for the longest time it was the only one I hadn't beaten. But when i got the disc for the GC with the first two games on it, I decided that it was time i beat it just so i could say i had beat them all. It quickly became one of my favorites. So anyone who hated it as a child, might be well served to give it a second chance.

Back when I was in High School, my girlfriend and I were in my truck, naked and making lots of noise, and in between her imaginative and filthy exclamations, i start hearing somebody talking, and it sounds like it's coming from my ass. I start diggin around in my seat, and it's my cellphone. I pick it up and some lady is saying 911, what is the nature of your emergency or whatever it is they say. Apparently, I had been sitting on the 9 key, which nobody told me dials 911 if you hold it down. I found the keypad lock real quick after that, I just knew they thought somebody was getting murdered.

ah...the days before /. when getting laid was still possible... at least i have the internet and the warm glow of my CRTS

and people turn on the 9 to dial an outside line , then stick the 1 in when dialing long distance and then stick the 1 in for the actual phone number. so it ends up dialing 9,11-555-555-5555. i use to do internet tech support, it happens A LOT

I have to disagree. Microsoft fubar'd the xbox controller. All of them. The Mad Catz controllers are better for the xbox, then actual xbox controllers. And THAT is saying something. The reason the nintendo controller is great is because it doesn't use the symetrical layout for the buttons. the button you use the most is big and in the center with the other buttons around it. with a roll of the thumb you can hit any other button. Lets see you hit x and triangle on a ps2 controller or A and X (or Y or Q or whatever that top button is) on an xbox controller with just your thumb. Nintendo had a much better layout and a much more comfortable controller. And yeah, buy the Wavebird. It's worth every penny. I dont smoke in the house, so i just walk outside and stand at the door, dont even have to pause. :D

let me get this straight....windows has more ppl looking for holes in it through reverse engineering, etc. then the linux community with it's open look at my code and tell me what you think view on software?

This is a common defense from windows users. But it is also false. Attacking a windows computer is fairly easy. You have very few variables. M$ windows, M$ outlook, M$ ie, M$ security (ha! i made a funny) creating something to penetrate a windows box isn't exactly brain surgery. Even when a problem is found by people who aren't looking for malicious reasons, the problem has to be submitted to m$, m$ has to review, figure out how to fix it, create a patch, and then release it. Sometimes followed by another patch to patch the patch.

Now with linux you have OPTIONS. kmail, mozilla, konquerer, etc. etc. and all of this software is released OPEN SOURCE. So you have an infinitely varied setup with an entire community looking at the code. If a problem is found, they can even create their own fixes. Even if a hole in a browser or mail client allows a virus to get into a linux system, the virus has to then find a way to execute itself, and if it wants to do anything major, it also has to find a way to give itself root permissions.

Writing a linux virus isn't and probably will never be impossible, but it would never be able to spread like blaster or mydoom, or any of the other virus that are reeking havoc on the net everyday.

Humans can't perceive any difference in fps once you get beyond 30 fps. So all this 500 fps crap is so much useless bullshit This was covered in an issue of MaxPC. I think the actual frame rate humans can percieve is around 32fps. the reason ppl attempt to get higher framerates is because it is an average framerate. just because a comp hits 70 or 80 fps doesn't mean it maintains that framerate. It goes both higher and lower. As for the 500fps comment, while that is a bit excessive, framerates, clockspeeds and basically everything else in the world is a lot like the serious drug collection in Fear and Loathing: "the tendency is to push it as far as it can go"
