I am trying it right now. It is fast on rendering, but you must wait to see the entire page. So the overall speed is comparable to Safari. It is possible to save login/password pairs: so it is a plus
It is concurrency to evolve to better memory management, not the opposite. A modern PC has a small amount of RAM, plenty of Hard disk space and network storage. Operating System evolved for managing CPU time and application memory. The application has little knowledge of memory management.
In a similar way, database are a way of managing huge amount of information, in the same abstraction like Service Oriented Application can be seen like an abstraction of web communication.
I think the apple position is unfair but in Apple rights.. If you jailbreak the iPhone and try to connect to iTuneStore, you cna harm the DRM iPhone Apps. Apple has the right to ban some iPhone serials if this can be a security risk.
Doing so, the iPhone becomes the less free-to-use device I have never see
If you learn programming: + You would be able to dominate the world (see wargame) + You will have a lot Money. A lot of money. Do you know Bill Gates? Cons: + A lot of Shame on you. Do you know windooze vista?
What are the differences between coLinux and andlinux.org? I'd like to switch from vmware to this solution for my pc used at work... is it worth to? Thank you!
So I will turn on again my Amiga500+ and show you the power of its audio custom processor (Paula, right?). I will be the cooler nerd of Italy. Your girlfriends are ALREADY MINE:)
Apple need web2.0 applications for iPhone. They must run on Safari, and Safari is weak on Web2.0 technlogy. So you *need* Safari for Windows, if you want someone will write some app safari-compatible....
In my own opinion the reason is simple: IE won the browser war (with some dirty tricks). But IE now is SUPPORTED. If you must plan a web application, FireFox renders well a lot of pages, but big bosses do NOT understand from who you can ask support for it... For the same reason, Opera is little used. For the same reason, Safari is enough usable: Apple take cares of it.
It sounds like a new Religion Flame "my OS is bigger then yours" is fired out by this thread. Nice! My choice is MacOS X, but for my all-day job I prefer Linux. Bye;)
iPod is Easy to use but it was not simple to create. Wii Remote is exiting easy to use but is fair complex. Google interface is easy to use (search box isn't it?) but it not simple to build a good search engine. Linux is not simple, but it is easy to share.
By the way I see a lot of call to the M$ support. I hope M$ is weighting this fact: they need to have a very GOOD call center, or a storm of customer will stop using theri software. Is it worth for some anti-piracy control? How much corporate are used to install pirate copy of Windows? (...ouch Linux can be pirated:)
...it will run with 1Gb of RAM. And most of mid-rage pc out of there has 1Gb of RAM. So vista will run well on current hw. For sure 3D effects are more likly to work at home on the game-killer-guy. Win95 was a problem because you need at least 12Mb to get it workng good, and the bare minimum of 4Mb was a very tight limit. So these extimates seems to me FUD.
Windows Vista hasn't very new ideas behind. The only sure think is you need to change your pc to run it decently. I think the Avalon/WinFX gui is quite interesting if we can develop web application with it (a sort of ajax of M$), but for the rest Vista seems...with no sense.
To check if it is good, count the games runs on it:)
Demo is not so impressive. Interface is very similar to Aqua Apple GUI, at least on the ideas behind. And Aqua is born in 2000. So is not so impressive to my eyes... but a little old stylish:)
I find Emacs very confortable. You can install a lot of package you use under Unix (eg. folding, and so on) and it is complete. My coworker like a lot UltraEdit, so take a look to it (but it isn't free!)
I use commercial and frre software (fro example Bea and Apache). The quality of Open Software is high and in some case the commerical software look poor. But commercial software must provide more support: some software house do not provide so much tutorial or docs on their software!!!! This is very very dangerous: why I must buy something with same quality of open source and with worst doc-quality?
You can use emacs inside cygnus. I launch emacs from cygnus: I got a fair environment, and I can compile/dev unix code. Cygnus has some problems, but for small task you can try this solution... Another Javaized option is Beanshell
Smalltalk Squeak offers the ability for rapid prototyping and it is quite fast (more than java in my own opinon).
A commercial solution is Visual Works or Dolphin.
Try Squeak
You can try Swiki (here) for a collaborative Web server. It is very very easy to use and it is free!! You can find implementations in Perl, Smalltalk and Java. It is used in the portland pattern repository too. You can write web pages, without knowing a lot of html, do search on the archive and so on... Enjoy!!
There are a lot if thesis on GC, but no-one seem to know this. So C++ should have at least a small GC in it: as B. Meyer says, Objects should be created and relased in a dynamic way, so how can you live *without* a GC? Java understood this, and only its implementation was poor (but look at HotSpot!).

On my unlocked-iphone Tethering works great with Vodafone Carrier.
I have tested it with a Macbook via Bluetooth.

All these stuff seems to me nice, but with very bad names. :)
And John did not like bad names
This is the best argument for getting old web application and ajax-ize them, reducing load time and getting a better user experience.
