Now this is exactly the kind of thing I don't want going on. How do they expect players to improve at their game if they dumb down the game to the players level? I understand making it so the player can enjoy the game - and believe me I'm a big fan of entertainment over challenge. However I also think that the mark of any well-designed level or game is that every time you lose you've at least gotten a little bit further than you did on the previous try.
If the game auto-adjusts the level on me and makes it easier, that would do more to turn me off the game than anything else.
Game makers should strive to make their games balanced, fun and challenging. Dumbing down the game on the third or fourth is insulting to me, as a gamer. I'd rather work to improve at the game and beat it that way than have the game stoop to my level.
"Mac OS X has been a huge leap backwards in useability compared to the Classic Mas OS as designed by people who cared more about useability "
Last time I checked, when using Mac OS 9 I had to wait 8-10 minutes to save some of my 1+gig size photoshop files and didn't have the benefit of being able to do anything else while the save was occuring. For this reason alone, OS X is much more "usable" than OS 9. OS 9 is slow (you can only do one task at a time) and unstable. I'll be glad when the OS 9 beast is dead for good.
I hear ya.... what really sucks is if I want to listen to anything new that is remotely innovative I have to listen to modern day heavy metal... which while not perfect is not all that bad. Everclear, Disturbed, Korn, Marilyn Manson..... they're all the modern day equivelents to the Queensryche's, Savatage's, Styx, and other classic acts... even though I doubt many of the newer bands will have the kind of staying power of the older ones.
I did not recognize one artist on this list... and I buy music all the time.... someone tell me if it's me who is out of touch or the "music biz"
With PC's you have cheaters who like to mod their games and then get into the multiplayer environment and proceed to ruin it for everyone who is out to just have some fun in their limited free-time. At least with Xbox live I know that I'm in a fair environment where I don't have to worry about someone playing with a hacked version of the game that allows them to cheat and ruin the fun for everyone in the game.
This is true with every single online game I have ever played on my PC or Mac including Red Faction, Myth, MOHAA and now Halo. I doubt very much that after my latest experiences with multiplayer Halo via Gamespy that I'll ever play a non-console multiplayer game ever again.
As for the TV argument... Halo and MOHAA look and play great on my Xbox on my 53 inch regular TV as well as on my plasma screen. And I don't have to have my face 5 inches from the screen to play it either.
that Microsoft can do right? I mean, I dislike windows as much as the next guy, but if the Army wants to use the Xbox to produce their simulations then it must be because they feel it's the best way to train soldiers to the environment. I'm for anything that involves our troops landing on the ground in such a way that they can lay the smackdown on a bunch of terrorist thugs without taking casualties. And if that involves Microsoft, then good for them, good for us, and awesome for everyone.
Thats all well and good - but this is going to drive up ISP costs. As an independent ISP who has really struggled to survive against the "Pay.02 per month" hosting bait-and-switch deals and try to provide a quality service, I do what I can keep costs down. Having to program my mail servers to send a reply to each and every of the over 1,000,000 emails that my mail server processes in a day would tripple my bandwidth needs which are already rather high... not to mention possibly require additional hardware.
That said, I really don't have a solution to offer... but God knows I've looked into what others are doing.
Oh - don't get me wrong - I thought the sequels (Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) were good.. but Return of the King is..... just.... omg.... really, really good:)
Saw ROTK last night... and I have to say that I think the LORT movies are some of the best made. The sequels get better as they go.... I think that's unique to movies period... Hell not even Star Wars has had the quality sequels that LOTR has had::ducks from the flames::
I have a hard time believing this. I've had some CDR archived materials for 5 or more years that read fine.
I think the bigger problem is clueless users (like I used to be) who mistakenly burned CDR media at a speed too high for what the media is rated for. Those discs seem to run fine at first, but then die later.
I've lost several gigs due to this problem just because I know how I used to burn CD's.
