I like this man's ingenuity, and DIY ethic. But the final video is obviously jerky and unusable, which he explains by saying you need to balance the camera better than he did in an earlier step. Perhaps reshooting a better example with the camera balanced would have been better approach to get people interested. Because after watching the video, we have to take his word for it that this will actually work. Which doesn't really make me want to run out and try it.
Wait, what channel is showing GOT with commercials? HBO is commercial free, so by definition if he is paying for HBO he is getting it commercial free. I'm confused.
The good news is my 9 year old loves Minecraft, and I like how it encourages his creativity and isn't all about violence.
The bad news? Its a Java app, which is the last thing I want on any of my Macs. Not to mention that adding mods is a total pain in the ass. It's like they built an app specifically to screw with parents and make their computers vulnerable. Thanks...
Thanks for the clarification, and for the record I am no fan of Bloomberg either. And I won't argue that MJ has a left bent, but I do find it interesting that that fact makes you less trusting of our reporting. We pride ourselves on getting our facts straight, even if the conclusions drawn illustrate a left leaning perspective. But we seem to live in an age where we seek out news that will reinforce our beliefs. Sometimes I am as guilty as those on the right who only get their information from right leaning sources. So I appreciate conversations like this.
Thanks. I am at a loss to understand how my original comment was modded a Troll. I simply pointed out that the link was not to MJ, and that we have been recognized as a good source of journalism. How is that being a troll???
A couple of points. First off the link is to the Motherboard site, not Mother Jones. And there are no links in that article to Mother Jones.
Secondly, I am not sure why you think Mother Jones has no credibility. As a board member of that organization I am proud of our journalism, and the many awards we have received over the years.
I can see why people are drawing this comparison, but I don't think it applies. Beanie Babies were a fad that came and went, and Legos have been around for 40 or more years. I think Lego has proven they are not a fad. That's not to say that there isn't a danger in this strategy, only that I think there is a little more permanence to Legos than posters are giving them credit for.
So in your perfect world I would need to carry around a marked measuring container to double check the accuracy of my fill ups? Cause that would be awesome.
Jonny Ive added a translucency effect to the new iClouds, so they should fine.

No kidding. And telling your kid "No, sorry it's a security risk" doesn't really help.
Bingo. I really wish Mojang would host popular mods and addons. And build a way into the app to install them.
I always have it turned off in the browser. That doesn't mean that mods and add ons aren't a risk.

Agreed, the summary is awful.

Ok, that makes more sense. Thanks for trying to mod me up, and apology most definitely accepted.

So thanks for the compliment...
It didn't appear on Mother Jones, it appeared on Motherboard. But keep laughing.
No, the link was to Motherboard. So perhaps you should have higher expectations.

Having this headline show up as a red banner was actually kind of alarming. It made me want to be sure where these spiked robots were headed.

It's not a good site for extrapolating web design theories though.
I am guessing here, but Netflix runs on Silverlight and the rest on Flash? Flash has a Linux player, Silverlight doesn't. Or isn't supported.
Good catch. That's a pet peeve of mine. Along with using football fields as a unit of measurement.
This is why Google shelved their version of this tech. The implications were too big.
Let me know if you ever start your kickstarter project.
hahahaha. you've already been modded 5. what else could i give you?
No. We are saying they were evil, and now they seem to be coming around. Maybe.
If you were a Mac user you wouldn't write it MAC.
