Nonsense! Your ONLY rightful, natural, irrefutable, undeniable, perpetual claim is that of authorship. All else is off the table. My copy is MY copy, to do with as I please. In other words, My copy, MY rules! And your other tired old stuff is just that. It's been rehashed thousands of times already. If you don't want to accept those rules, then keep your damn "content" to yourself! We won't miss it. It's not like you're the only one out there. Man! It's like marrying a pretty girl and then wondering how the hell I put up with that voice.
Oh, and I'll be perfectly happy to pay you to reproduce your(or anybody else's) content in a live performance, at a concert for instance, if I happen to like what I hear on my copy. A recording of me eating a steak doesn't fill my stomach. Why should a reproduction of your work fill your wallet? What makes you so special?
If they are, they're probably thinking of getting out of the TV business and go into something else, like...petroleum, or sanitary napkins...who knows? Personally, I would think that funeral homes are where it's at. People are just dying to get in. *rimshot*
But unless you get all IP law to limit its scope to that of plagiarism, it's all a bunch of hogwash. Present law deals with distribution. It has nothing to do with the creator of a work. In effect it's a "prohibition", just like that against drugs.
He is paying somebody to write the score. There is the performance. He might pay somebody else to playback or reproduce the score. Another performance. You don't pay a machine to perform work(yet). You might pay a person to operate the machine. He will get paid when his performance is finished. Any derivatives that come about with no further effort on his part have nothing to do with him, other than being the creator of the original work.
Very well put. And seeing that government is supposed to derive its power from us, it is, in fact, we who give the corporations their power also, and we DO have the power to revoke their very existence. That we suffer any misfortunes at the hands of these people is our own cross to bear.
The reason I say volume is because I'm including the "unauthorized" stuff. We need to turn our backs completely, and let the artists know that they will not benefit by joining such organizations. They need to find somebody different to handle their daily business or do it themselves. One thing is for sure, if we don't demand ethics in business, "...never the twain shall meet"
That's weird. I get exactly the opposite, but there it's a synchronous connection. At home I get 2meg(200KB/s*) down and 256k(25KB/s*) up. The upload limit doesn't seem to affect my download speed with bittorrent.
It would be nice to know that all ??AA content was moving 20% less of their volume, including the P2P stuff. How is the indie movement going? Are their numbers up? Let's hope so. Give the artist less incentive to join up with the RIAA and their types.
So, in other words, politics ain't going to change all that much.
Maybe so, but having access to mass media without a lot of money is kind of a "new" and a very good thing. Nothing like a little chaos to stir things up.
This nonsense of leaving everything up to the free market...
We never had a "free market". That does not exist. What we have is a series of protected monopolies. And we're not allowed to apply the rules of Christianity to our leaders. They only apply to the worker bees.
Those regular bandwidth test sites aren't very accurate. They'll give bad readings if they are loaded down. Running a bittorrent client will give better results.
It is a bit of a stretch, kinda like a Kevin Bacon thing, only different. Believe me, the linkage is there. But just to be sure, it's not meant to be taken seriously, so while I appreciate the props, I'm a bit confused by the "informative" mod myself.
Halliburton moved to Dubai, right?
My content, my rules.

Am I naive to believe that someday, some day, the US will have a congress that's for the people?
I do believe it's still legal to vote for one, and in the end, it all depends on what the people want.
How about the chartreuse book of Evil Empires?
I was thinking paisley.
They think they are.
Ants 'milking' aphids. Very common survival technique. Will never win against a lawn mover though.
...to bad they can't think that far ahead.

Right here. What we need is proper interpretation and enforcement.

Now YouTube can dump all that network junk and free up some disk space.

Hmmm, I must have forgotten to turn off the echo.

Heh, "impractical" never stopped them before. It just gives cause to raise taxes.
Now, how about we see to the MPAA...
Screw these piss-ants! How about we see to the election ??

Let's hope this doesn't stop others from doing the same thing. It's time to show these people who's really in control now.

...retreat of sorts from lives and upbringings that were in most cases not "Leave it to Beaver" or "The Cosby Show" type lives.
More like "Married with Children" and "Sanford and Son".
You think?
Man! And they complain about rap music!
