Because nobody will VOTE for one! Jeeze, man, you can have any president you want. It seems that the majority has a thing against wisdom and intelligence. The answer to your question is right there in the mirror. If you want a wise president, then you simply have to nominate and elect one. But since the majority of you are more interested in American Idol, it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. So you will probably leave yourselves with Hillary and Jeb as your choice in '08. In other words, more of the same. And the interstates will continue to rot faster than an Oscar Meyer hotdog.

Not only do unions cripple companies against competition, they do a poor job protecting workers.

That's because the workers allow/encourage the unions to be run by the same kind of people that run their adversaries, the corporations. They are effectively the same kind of people. Each looking after their own personal interests. And it splices right in with what you said about the underlying Victorian beliefs. Economic disparity is necessary to run this kind of system. It's pretty easy to see actually. It seems perfectly natural, if somewhat anti-progressive or anti-evolutionary.

You are also very right in that all we have to do is to simply refuse to cooperate with the carpet baggers. It reminds me very little of that saying, "What if they gave a war and nobody came?"

As soon as the mics are shut off, they're all off to the tittie bar together, sharing a bucket of beer and a big plate of wings. I'm sure they prefer to call it the "Gentlemens' Club". And you're right. If you want to win anything, you have to put on a good show. I find it very funny, and tragic at the same time, that so many people blame that on the government or big money corporations. You can't blame people for doing what only comes naturally. Why not? They're nothing more than the two sides of the same coin. They feed from the same trough. Their differences are trivial. Corruption? The republicans had Nixon. The dems had Rostenkowski(who probably wielded more power on the Ways and Means Committee than Nixon did as president). Both trip all over each other trying to be like the other to attract voters from the "other" side. Newborn identical twins are easier to distinguish. To bad you actually believe that you will accomplish any kind of change with those people. Or maybe you are happy with things the way they are. In which case I could understand your position. The dems gave us the DMCA. Remember, Lieberman left his mark all over the patriot act also. He's ever bit as despicable as any republican. It is ludicrous to think he would have been a better vice president than Cheney. The dems are every bit as power hungry as the republicns. I hope that someday you realize that you're not helping matters any by supporting the status quo. If you support the democrats, you may as well be handing your money to the RNC and vote republican, since the only thing they differ on is their hair style. But not by much.

I would think it's more correct to say that the US voter is unfriendly to third parties. They would win if enough people voted for them. The voters are more influenced by big money than the candidates. They simply refuse to consider anyone who doesn't spend millions of dollars to be in their face all the time. They won't take the time to peek around the corner to see who's there. I don't consider their unwillingness to see or hear anything that isn't spoon fed by CNN or FOX to be government's fault, or even the big, "diabolical" corporations'. But they just decided to go with what they thought was a winner evidently, instead of following what is purported to be their beliefs, so now I just see that they're just like everyone else. As far as I'm concerned, they sold out. BUT...it would be cool to see a few of the majors kicked out of office, and I could accept these guys as the replacement...for now. I'm not willing to give them the 150 plus years we have given the major parties if they don't keep their promises.
