Yes it does. The PITA is that it is NOT compatable with USB 1.1. So if you don't have USB 2.0, you have to go buy a card. Upgrade madness, gotta love it!
Yep...have to agree with ya. The only time I saw the problem he describes was when I installed the ISP's software(!) for my DSL. The software was "calling home", where ever that was. It only took 5 minutes to ruin everything. Turns out I didn't need to use it. It didn't matter to me. I restored back to factory fresh, didn't install the ISP software, and all remained well ever after. Don't install software that requires a connection, unless of course you're connecting to your own trusted server. Otherwise you don't know where it's taking you. It could lead to a comprimised site.
feels so secure about themselves that they don't hesitate to share(see link in TFA) their "secrets" for fear that somebody might "steal" their job. It says a whole lot. Oh, and that Director's guild...nice bunch, eh?
Y'CbCr, also known as YUV, is the color space used by film editing equipment. Y represents luminance, while Cb and Cr are color difference signals.
Wouldn't be more accurate to say that Y is luminance w/ green, and that Cb and Cr are "chroma blue" and "chroma red"? Or is that just stupid? And I thought the real holy grail was 6:6:6:6 Think we'll ever see that?
Bezos also once told angry booksellers there's no reason why Amazon should have to collect sales taxes, arguing that Amazon gets no police services from other states."
Yeah right. I guess I shouldn't pay taxes because I don't have any kids in school, I'm healthy, I walk to work. My apartment isn't on fire. What an ass. Heeeyy...wait a minute! Maybe I shouldn't pay any taxes! Sorry guys, If you want to operate here and benefit from our people, these are the rules. Just like building codes and health codes. If you don't like it, just close up shop. Someone else will pop up. Quit being such a crybaby, and simply udjust your prices accordingly. Let the voters deicde how much tax you(we) pay. That's the way it's supposed to be!
I've heard/read of estimates that a xenon gas rocket, fired by a nuclear light bulb heat source (circa 30,000 degrees C) making a plasma out of the gas, could go to Alpha Centari in just a few years, as it would accelerate at a steady.05G's to the halfway point, then turn around and decelerate at that same rate.
I don't care what they say about abortion, the war in Iraq, progressive taxation, social security reform, election reform, capital punishment, environmental policy, church/state separation, etc. etc. I watch what they do. Republicans give giant tax breaks to their coporate buddies-Democrats give $20 billlion to their corporate buddies to cover their bad investments. Both sides decided to go to war, and voted for the patriot act. Only one person running for president was against both. Everyone else was for it or at best neutral. And both sides approved of the DMCA while distracting us with "Have a Habana" with Bill and Monica. It was carried on almost every station, preempting the real news, even on NPR. The republicans talk tough on crime. The dems actually sign an expanded death penalty into law. They might have a different group of friends, but what they do is the same as the other. They actually ask for and get their "donations" from the same groups. They know it's always best to play both sides. You're guaranteed a win. Dems and republicans are the same. Fords and Chevies are the same(now that's flaimbait!). We are all the same. We all look for an advantage over the other guy. It's perfectly natural. Nothing new there. If you think that these people actually disagree with each other, well, you already know about that famous bridge that's for sale.
...what kind of place do you work at that didn't require an IP agreement?
All four TV stations over the last twenty years.
I see nothing at all wrong with complying with the agreement I signed.
Others may disagree. In fact, others do disagree. Just not enough to prevent this.
You know about things like mortgages, right?
Oh yeah, I forgot having a mortgage means it's ok to close your eyes to the consequences of what you're doing. Yep, screw everbody else. I got mouths to feed.
Sounds like a win to me.
It's a win for you. What becomes of others is unimportant. You got the win. Everybody else loses. "I got mine.", right?
Or do you still live with Mommy?
Ooohh, right through the heart! Uncle, already! I give up. That statement proved you right. I feel so very sorry.
There's nothing political about it. They worked for the democrats also. I'm very familiar with these people. Under a reasonable system, they would be considered criminals. They set the rules. They ok'ed this, and worse. The stuff we don't have on film. Most the most part, they learned their lesson from the Nixon thing. They're not keeping any evidence around this time. That's how Reagan's and Clinton's boys got away, and countless others before them. And the same thing will happen here, because the public is more concerned about Janet's tits! They only locked up the people that were thrown to the wolves. I think it's called being the fall guy. They fell onto the sword to protect those really responsible. Happens all the time. Then it's business as usual. So, please set aside your political beliefs and open your eyes. And since the voter is not demanding a peek behind the closed doors to verify what's going on, I'm going to assume that they approve of this and hold them responsible, also. If you vote, that would include you. I find it odd for some reason that you can believe that the the people you put in charge are so infallible and saintly. They can do no wrong, and when someone points it out, you vilify them(the messenger)! To think otherwise, apparently, would only make you realize that you made a mistake when you voted for them, and that you just won't accept. You just won't admit that you've been taken for a ride. I suppose that is a normal defense mechanism.
There, I saved you from having to take the time to read the article.
Thanks. The Internal Revenue code is an easier read than that was, and that was just the first page. Damn I wish they had an "everything on one page" thing for that so I could just download and read it over the next week or so.
Most artists have not given that permission. Yet, most pirates don't respect that.
Because they refuse to accept gov't granted ownership? Nothing wrong with that.
Nobody's ever validly justified infringing on artists' rights without their permission.
Nobody's ever validly justified copyright without lying about "increasing innovation", etc. When just the opposite is true.
It's human beings wanting stuff for free because people have made it easy to get. Basic human nature here.
Sounds like the IP rights holder's attitude to me. Work once, get paid many times. They claim ownership of some thing that can't be owned. That the gov't agrees doesn't make it right. It's the public's generosity that gives you any copyright at all. There are NO inherent ownership rights! If you continue your greedy attempts to extend it, eventually the publice might wake up, see what you're trying to do, and take back those rights.
...with no mention of the human beings whose music you're actually taking and depriving revenue for because you want it for free.
LIAR! LIAR! That has been refuted many times. We're just telling them that they have to perform WORK to get paid. Try to get it straight, damn it! You are LYING when you say that. You know it's not true, yet you continue to say it. That makes you a LIAR!
I don't believe that corporations have the right to vote. And if it is used thoughtfully, the vote has more power than money. If the guy with more money loses the vote(fat chance), he must relenquish the office. WE have the power. Nobody else. The corporation's money comes from us. The government's authority comes from us. Please...accept this as the first step towards reform, and work from there.
The average American has been brainwashed...The average person is STUPID.
But if we are to act like human beings, it's up to us to overcome that. People are living that way beacuse it's easy. It's what they choose, brainwashed or not. We are not ROM's, we are EPROM's.(new devo song) We're erasable and re-writable. Let's not depend on the authorities to save us. We have to save ourselves. It's up to us to provide forums to the alternatives, and to de-program the "moonies". I hope you're not serious about using IQ to measure qualification to vote. If you want those amendment to pass, who do you think has to pass them? It appears to me that it comes right back to the...voter. Like it or not, the power is ours. There is no other way. The misery can not continue withour our consent. And our money.
Goddamn power went out during my reply so by now it's probably redundant but I'm going to do it any way.
If I only get to vote between a Dem or Rep Congress critter, exactly how can I win as a voter?
Seems like you had a defective ballot(one of those touch screen thingies perhaps). The ballots that I see have all sorts of options, greens, libertarians, independants, even communists and neo-naxis. There's even a write in option I believe. Did somebody actually go into the booth with you and force you to vote for one of the majors? That might be happening in some countries, but the Americans haven't stooped that low. Or have they? Ok, if your individual vote doesn't count, then form voting blocks with your neighbors. If money is such a big issue, then form really big voting blocks and pool the money. Those are the people you really need to talk to. If the gov't doesn't listen to you, your neighbors might, and if they don't, well, you certainly can't blame the gov't for that. The people have spoken. If you're only going to use what the entrenched interests spoon feed you, then I simply can not sympathize with you. The choice is your to make.
...but it's the governments fault for allowing itself to be manipulated.
Correction! Replace "government" with "voter"... please! While you're at it, replace "itself" with "themselves". Then you will have an irrefutable statement.
Well, if you're a citizen, I believe you know the routine. Remember, your gov't is indeed operating with the consent of the voter, and last November, 51%(at least) said that everything is just hunky dory...carry on. And you're under a system where "winner takes all". So I'm mystified as to what exactly you expect for it to do.
This is silly.. if you don't like the cable company, work to change it.
Exactly. It looks to me like we have an election issue here, and if everybody quits belly achin' about flag burning, etc., there's a chance that the issue might actually be resolved. Distraction is a powerful weapon, and entrented interests are ready and willing to use it. Watch out.
...why would the FCC be on the side of the business and not the side of the consumer?
Because the average consumer won't be able to offer a retiring commisioner a fat chushy job at their corporate headquaters. For an example, see what happens to some of the retirees frome the Agricultural dept. If you want the FCC to respect the interests of the consumer, you just need to elect politicians that agree with you, and wiil appoint the right people.
However, there's no reason that I can see that Telewest or NTL should be expected to open a network that they put there own private money into.
If they are a gov't protected monopoly, then, yes, the voters need to tell the gov't to make the cable companies open up or lose the monopoly. Pretty simple actually.
Life's too short, and I'm too slow to read the whole thread, but I believe his point was that price and performance(and time, it seems) are somehow inextricably linked:-). They sure do make it look nice. Such polish and finish. That will always give it the edge.
Yep...have to agree with ya. The only time I saw the problem he describes was when I installed the ISP's software(!) for my DSL. The software was "calling home", where ever that was. It's got nothing to lose, because it's lost it all already.
Oh really? When did this happen? I must have missed it.
