The fact is that Nortons and MacAfee will make your computer dog slow. Configuration is a total PITA. And need to be replaced with something else. I believe that the manufacturers should handle the problem, but they aren't, for obvious reasons. That leaves it up to the customer. They have two options, either remove the software themselves, or don't buy the product. Naturally, I would prefer the latter, but to each his own. It's nothing to get excited about. When it comes to computers, we are still in the Model T age. To achieve decent performance and reliability you still need some expertise. You still gotta get your hands dirty. Computers won't be ready for prime-time until doing things like installing software is no more complicated than putting food into the refrigerator, or a tape into the VCR. The Mac comes close. Metaphorically speaking, most peoples' computers are left with the clocks flashing 12:00 AM.
I find it much easier to think of my income as what I take home after everything is paid for, including the accountant that keeps the money I never see anyway out of mind. So, when negotiating a contract, keep in mind what you will net, and pay no mind to the money that doesn't exist, for you anyway.
It's not about the substance. It's all about presentation. Make it sound authoritative, breeding consensus, like Huntley and Brinkley. Not all panicky and divisive, like Hannity and Colmes. Be the pastor, not the evangelical. Be the diplomat, not the general. Be the democrat, not the republican...no no no, wait... be the... ummm...be the Predator, not the alien.
All this over-reaction is causing a meltdown in the public confidence of congress (currently facing a 10% approval rating)...
While getting an over 90% re-election "rating". That's the REAL approval rating. Those media surveys mean nothing. It's the election that counts. So regardless what they tell you on the TV, chances are that those low rated congress people WILL be re-elected.
And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by law to wear it at all times. It was tuned to a government transmitter. Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains.
When are YOU going to quit taking money from lobbyists and and Wall Street fat cats?? Will you give the people who want their constitution back? Or is that a done deal? And of course, What's up with Iraq? When is that beach going to be "safe to surf"? (heh wind surf maybe)
Does anybody have any 25 year old CDs that still play flawlessly? How about a 25 year old player? I have some 45 year old vinyl that still plays like new. Can't say the same for the stylus. I guess diamonds aren't forever.
