If anyone believed it to be a real Wal-Mart site, that is only a testament to the degree of absurdity that exists within corporate America today.
This guy lost all credibility with this one statement. What does the ability of someone to mistake this site for a real one have anything to do with absurdity within corporate America? This guy is just spouting off rhetoric. Plain and simple.
The gas tax has always been a utility for government.
1. Increase gas tax to deter people from using polluting fossile fuels.
2. Use new found money to fund pork-barrel projects.
3. Become dependent on these new funds.
4. People react, and buy fuel efficient vehicles.
5. Aack! what happened to our money!
6. Punish people for this by raising their taxes again.
I'm still waiting for a similar product that gives businesses their own "Internal GMail" server. My employer uses Lotus Notes for e-mail, and forbids us from using POP to access our accounts. Lotus notes is horrendous, and a real pain to access using Linux. GMail is much more useful, and would be an awesome replacement.
I think the whole laser idea is so they can shoot down thousands of missles
Well, that's sort of right, but misses the bigger benefit. The conventional method of stopping an incomming missile involves shooting it down while it's already descending into your own territory. If you hit it, but don't destroy the warhead, you can still get a lot of damage, as seen with scud missles.
The real benefit of using an aircraft mounted laser is the incredibly large effective range, and the ability to shoot down the missile during launch, and make any collataral damage occur to your enemy.
You're forgetting that Bush has been pushing hydrogen technology. Nuclear power works well with hydrogen technology, letting us cleanly generate hydrogen, and replace our biggest fossil fuel burners with cleaner electric and hydrogen powered ones.
I'm left to wonder what benefits would prompt anybody to switch to PPC running windows. I know the benefit for users running OSX on x86 would be the increased range of hardware for users to select from, but is there anything special PPC has over x86 that would warrent such a switch?
I want something with a very low charge impedance that can basically lock the shaft of the motor/generator, if need be.. completely eliminating friction brakes.
What about using a frictionless flywheel? You can spin it up using the electricity acquired during braking, or use some kind of clutch to transfer power from the wheels to it. After it has been spun up, use it as an electric generator until you need to brake again.
I can't believe people mod up this kind of tripe! The two guys purposly and FORCEFULLY pushed themselves through a police line. Of course they got arrested!! So, morons like you try to equate that with real political prisoners. I'm sure Nelson Mandella would be proud of you.

You can ride legally on all of the same roads as a car can and not have to worry about cars passing (and nearly hitting) you on busy streets while on a bicycle. [snip] I blow past all of the cars and cut in front of everyone at stop lights.
Somehow I think you might want to watch out for people trying to hit you.
Once you start riding, you might be surprised to see how quickly you lose the ass.
It was mostly a joke. During the spring and summer I take my mountain bike out on the trails every other weekend. BTW.. Why am I talking about my ass on slashdot?:-)

And trust me.. It is not exactly pain-free.

I for one, welcome our news.com.com.com.com.com overlords.
What would keep someone from giving their missiles a reflective mirror coating? Would this protect them, or is the laser too powerful?

Moderators don't bother to think anymore.
Except for the ones who want to mod me up.

Umm... What's that mean?
Shoot.... I guess I should take "proficiency with pencil and paper" off of mine.

She's better now, but those first few hours were pretty harrowing.
Glad to hear she recovered from DEATH.
That's spelled WeeWeed.
Maybe they already know about these problems, but you can only dumb down the process so much.
How about punch the monkey to vote for Nader.

I don't think there's a bike light enough to make up for my heavyweight ass.
