That's the whole point. Wind is NOT base power. You need to be connected to a grid, so you can sell you excess when you have it, and buy your shortfall when you don't. Otherwise wind is unreliable. The only option is to store the energy, and you are limited to batteries (expensive and not feasible for large scale), and pumping potential energy of water (which basically requires hydro, dam or resoviour).
So you basically just shadowed what Bill is trying to say, for BASE power nuclear is king, and people are wasting money trying to build alternative that is unsuitable for base power. Most remote communities that I know that run wind, also run diesel (wildly expensive) generators to provide power when the wind ain't blowing.
I have an analog watch. Its an accessory, jewelry that men can wear without feeling weird.
I had a digital watch. Then cell phone were invented, and the actual "need" for a watch to tell time evaporated if you are going to carry a cell around with you. Its already digital, and it updates its time automatically. If I need to set my analog watch, I take out my iPhone. I don't really need the watch, I could just take out my iPhone. The time it saves me by looking at my arm, as opposed to removing my iPhone from my pocket is negligible. I wear a analog watch because I think it looks cool. I would be that most men fall into this category.
lol, nice, i'm using that quote... Also considering how subsidized corn is, its like combining taxpayer dollars with more taxpayer dollars...
Also what is with measuring in Btus VS Giga Watts? When did that start happening?
Also in case no one noticed, everything is flooding, which likely helps out hydro over production.
Also this renewable is likely 95% Hydro and 5% everything else.
Also this is about produced energy, not consumed. So its nice that all those windmills are generating all that excess unused power at night, and all the other inconsistent renewable, when what people have to understand, is it is the constant hum of nuclear at 5pm Wednesday, when everyone comes home and turns on their AC and every other appliance in their home and peaks power consumption, that keeps the distribution system electrified, and not under collapse every day of the week. Hydro is awesome, but there are finite rivers.
Which apparently is why the USA refused to sign on.
Why bother signing on to something which may impact your economy, while at the same time, the worst offenders (China, India, etc...) don't ever have to do anything at all.
Of course the question I have is can't China simply make cheaper scrubbers? They might be substandard by other measures, but probably better than nothing, and they make everything else cheaper, why not that?
The way I see it, is that sooner or later these other huge corporations that make considerably more money selling technological gadgets, will soon realize that the annoyance they are dealing with (RIAA) isn't worth dealing with and stomp the crap out of them. When "music" is really just a feature of an app of a device you make, or a service you provide, and you make 1000x more money than the shills that licence the music, they will soon draw the conclusion, that perhaps there is just an easier way to deal with the "music" component. When the make that solution, I would be the RIAA will be out on the street like they deserve.
Seriously, unless a bee lives there, or its a brand of cereal that has a bee for its spokesman, I am not aware of it.
I consider myself fairly well versed in technology and technology news, so if I am asking wtf it is, I bet your average consumer has zero clue. So if your selling it as a feature, it is one that no one is aware of or cares about.
I know the one we use is a big pile of steaming garbage. It is used by a big chunk of government. I really wonder what we paid (and are likely still paying) for it?
You say that as sort of a joke I know, but I was watching TV the other day, and there were elected officials (not sure of they were senators or what) quoting bible verses as to how the US budget should be spent, as well as a letter writing campaign from apparently every professor from catholic colleges in the US.
I recall thinking, wow you are actually going to let a faerie tale book decide you fiscal plan and write your budget policy? Pardon the pun, but Jesus!
I mean sure Facebook can be annoying sometimes, but generally speaking it is a free service that is pretty useful or at least entertaining.
Also I hate both the telecommunications Mobile/phone/Internet/TV/Cable with a passion. I also really hate the banks. In both cases, you have to deal with them, and they are all pretty much the same crooks. You sort of accept it and move on, which makes you all the more hateful/angerkill, specifically because you are powerless to do anything about it, and they know they can pretty much do whatever they like and get away with it.
So yeah, I am not sure where this "survey" was done, but I find it pretty hard to believe that FB is more hated than say the telcos or the banks. Either that or most people are stupider than I give them credit for...
From my windows experience with viruses, the safest way IS to nuke it from orbit, its the only way to be sure.
Clean install. It really is too bad you can get free updated install disks from MS... as a clean install isn't the pain in the ass, it is updating all your service packs and updates, and drivers, etc... which you have to connect to the internet for, exposing yourself before you're fully patched. Never made any sense to me considering MS business model.
Italy is in the same boat... France will be selling power to all of Europe. Perhaps they are going to position themselves as the European energy broker...
Some cats get it man, they think it is a circle, but that's not even it man. What it is, man is a sphere. The most perfect sphere if ever there was one man, it's beautiful. There is no back or forward, past, present, or future, everything is all the time, everywhere, you just have to feel it man. That's why I don't wear a watch...
As it is the closest button to the "Emergency Call" button, and anyone who has tried to unlock their iPhone with one hand will tell you, that you end up hitting it pretty often which is annoying. Also the name also makes me think it is about to auto dial 911, which always freaks me out.
Lawyer: "Violent video games make children violent! Think of the Children!!!" Judge: "How is this different from violence kids are subjected to via other mediums such as movies, books, and TV?" Lawyer: "It's interactive! This effects children's brains differently causing severe trauma , and leads to violent behavior!" Judge: "Do you have any proof of that? Medical tests, analysis, studies, or published material?" Lawyer: "Well, er... not exactly..." Judge: "Bullshit. Case dismissed."
Various schools have various rules around electives. I can't remember all that well, (I drank a lot in college) but I believe electives were exactly that, you *could* go outside your discipline, I'm not sure there was anything preventing you from taking more CS courses. I'm probably wrong. I know I enjoyed taking Classical History and a few others that were a break from most of my CS course....
However, you should be thinking less about "having" to take electives, and trying to get into a good CS school. Not all CS programs are the same, and if you have to take a few more electives at a better CS school, then so be it. I think you have your priorities mixed. Pick the best CS school you are able, and go for it. That would be my advice. You might even enjoy taking astronomy 100 or something like that which is hardly a course, enjoyable, and will raise your average. Win-Win-WIn!
If your looking for a simple language to start kids on, COBOL is pretty simple stuff.
Though it might give them the wrong idea about programing. It also isn't really fun, nor can you do "cool" thinks with it... so maybe not. You can make constructs and move data around pretty good, and I can make a mean text menu!

I am pretty sure that the article didn't say that it was impossible, and only that it was "practically" indestructible or something like that.
The intent being that this would be a very tough nut to crack and that to beat it will take a lot of resources or some very smart people or both.
In fact if he only read his own sentence before uttering another, he would have seen his mistake.
Heck someone called the Titanic "unsinkable" and guess where its current location is? That wasn't even a "practically" unsinkable.

That is going to be one invasive TSA search... oh well I guess they already got the gloves...
There is another observation for you...

One nice benefit (or detriment if you're a city) is no red light cameras for giving out automated traffic tickets.
For drivers good, as it they really are just a revenue generating device that has nothing to do with safty.
For Cities bad, as you lose a possible revenue stream.

Hey at least the office system is properly backed up right? :)
1) Spend 1$ Billion dollars in future nuclear power development
2) ???
3) Profit!!!
1) Eliminate All Nuclear Power
2) ???
3) Profit!!!

"...act as solar panels at the same time as blocking sunlight from entering..."
So what you mean to say is take current technology solar panels and use them for windows? As that would accomplish the same goal.
