Could this mean we finally get a decent video editor in Linux? Apologies to the Cinelerra, Kino, etc. people, but (and I really hate to say this) many of the simplest and cheapest Windows offerings put these projects to shame.
I know it makes me seem like a total douche to put down projects that many people put a lot of time and effort into, but come on! The sound editor front is even worse! Audacity is today what Cool Edit was in 1998.
This, obviously, will remind several of us SciFi fans of the reconstruction scene in the Fifth Element -- which I am too lazy to track down and link right now, so I'll let some other person whore for the karma instead.
I've been using XBMC 9.11 beta 1 for a little over a week, and I absolutely love it. I built a cheap HTPC with no hard drive -- I boot from an SD card in about 30 seconds, but usually just suspend and resume.
It doesn't have DVR capability, but I have decided to rely on torrents. Torrents are better for a number of reasons, the main one being the fact that networks don't always start and end their shows at the scheduled time. In this day and age, that's ridiculous. (Some may question the legality of torrenting TV shows, but I would argue that they're analogous to having a friend record a show to VHS and then pass it onto me.)
Anyway, XMBC is awesome. I'm looking forward to the 9.11 release, but the current beta has been very stable.
No, of course I don't think all environmentalists are nazis -- I never said that. I do, however, think that some environmentalists are idiots. Notice the dufus banging the leather drum. And, you have to wonder what they eat -- if they mourn the death of trees, do they decry the death of all plants? Or, are there certain castes of plants that it's ok to kill? It's obvious that the young one, who forces a primal howl, is a new recruit. Some day, she will become like the wise, older one who marvels at the life of a rock.
Feminism you say? Just like environmentalism, there is good and bad feminism. The problem happened after suffrage, when the new fork of liberal, militant feminism came to be. This feminism, the type that refuses to acknowledge the physiological differences between man and woman; the type that turns a blind eye to the objectification of women as nothing more than sexual machines, has done more damage to feminism than chauvinism ever did.
I'm sorry, but I think you've only served to reinforce my statement. You offered nothing in the way of argument against the premise that many environmentalists act as nazis. Further, you simply repeated the Godwin claim in an attempt to avoid meaningful rebuttal.
Also, the fact that "enviro-nazi" is a meme certainly applies here. The original post could have said "enviro-droids", "envirotards" or "envirobabies" and the argument would have held all the same. Does replacing one meme with a different one change the Godwin status of a statement?
Firstly, the term "enviro-nazi" has become a meme. I would argue that Godwin hardly applies here.
Secondly, because Godwin's Law does not take into account whether referencing nazis is appropriate to the discussion, it's become a half-assed method of trying to avoid any meaningful rebuttal all together -- usually by nazis. You're not a nazi, are you?
The better torrent sites have RSS feeds of their various categories (TV XviD, TV HD, DVD-R, etc.) The feed is simply a list of named links to the.torrent files in each category. You can set your BitTorrent client (I like to use ktorrent with the Syndication plugin) to search for strings within the link names and download based on a set of filters. You can use regex filters, or just standard wildcard format (eg. "*ig*ang*eory") and even set the season and episodes.
Now, they just need to get rid of Chris Sontag, who publicly brags that he was the architect behind the attack on Linux in the media. A company I used to work for hired him temporarily for business development. On his first day there, he actually thought he'd earn points from the software engineers by telling us about his attack on Linux. Needless to say, he didn't last very long at our company, where we primarily used Linux as our dev platform.
So, it sounds like it shows up in the infrared. But, it must be filtered by our atmosphere, or something -- otherwise we'd be able to see it from the ground.
What a shame. It would be really cool to capture it with a DSLR.

Uh oh, you mentioned rapists. Now, the discussion is over, because once you mention rape, no intelligent discourse can follow.
Ridiculous? Yes it is. So is Godwin's Law.
Now, don't be a Godwin nazi.
J/K. That sounds like a good plan. Draw up a petition and I will sign it.
Wow. Just... wow. Here's another meme for you:
Strawman much?

Sure beats the old timer on the VCR routine.
With just a simple, surface comparison of our technological advances with theirs, I'd have to answer "Yes." 90% does seems a bit steep to me.
Whoa. Sounds like somebody needs to "get the facts." ;)

Are you frackin' kidding me? Other than happening in space with robots, BSG was not sci-fi, and had very little to do with technology.
Well, he did bow to the king. That's som'n.

Ah, but he does.
Linux seems to be fine for them to run their web server.
And then, you became the most pathetic for trolling the troll who trolled the dupe.

I use Wake On Lan to wake my PC. The same thing should work for this.
What's with Apple? They had no problem paying Sorenson Media in the past. What, specifically, is wrong with Theora?
You mean like Google, or Amazon? Or, are they too high-profile?
So, it's the most complete complete map. But, is it completely complete? Just checking.
Yeah, but this is a bit like a car manufacturer providing locks for their doors after the fact.
Not to mention all the pains-taking efforts that must be taken to keep Berkeley students from living in them.
