Depends on the state. Here in Arkansas, you can't carry an exposed weapon, period, regardless of whether or not you have a CHL.

That said, I've walked many miles on the roadside with a rifle going between my family's houses when I was younger (1995-2002 or so). No issues.

In the US (a few state laws aside), you can shorten then barrel is 18" without issue. To go shorter than that, you have to file a form, pay a $200 tax, and go through a background check.

Assuming your state doesn't have an "assault weapons ban", there is no regulation for an "assault grip" (I assume you mean a pistol grip).

FWIW, I own a Saiga-12 with an 18.25" barrel and pistol grip.

  4. Re:Catholics are quite clever on Vatican Debates Possibility of Alien Life · · Score: 5, Informative

Being raised Catholic, I questioned the idea of alien life. My priest got a little bit exasperated at times, but he sat and explained the catechism to me, and there is no problem with accepting aliens. Further, the Church would not necessarily even want or need to convert them, regardless of their religion.

Christianity holds that man fell from grace in the Garden of Eden, where he was tricked into consuming fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, against God's commandment. If He created an alien species, then they may have never been exposed to the concept, or they may have followed His commandment. Having never fallen from grace, they would have no need for a savior, and therefore no Jesus Christ.

As the parent said - the premises may be flawed, but Catholic Catechism is quite internally consistent.

Judicial Review is a standard set in Marbury v Madison, not an established part of the Constitution. The Supreme Court interpreted that they had a power, and no one could effectively tell them they didn't.

FWIW, I don't think it has turned out as badly as it could have because of this interpretation, and I think on the whole the system has been healthy in this respect - but to pretend that there is a clear-cut assignment of power in the Constitution is only rationalization.
