this is funny because a lot of people pirate steam games because they don't like being treated like thieves first. a pirated version of a steam game can be played at any time. not when you have a internet connection and for a lot longer then what their off-line mode allows. a pirated steam game is not forced to update which in turn breaks mods like what happened in skryim. a pirated steam game will be playable longer to as you will not loose the game when the steam servers disable said game.
considering id is now owned by besthesda, that this is going to be the last release of their engine source as they now have final say. and when was the last time they even acknowledged the existence of linux let alone treat pc gamer's well?
i guess you can blame the voter, but that's kind of like blaming the wife for being beaten in most cases. The ones that are actually to blame for starting the current round of this mess are very old and either are dead or dying, 1940's, and the ones who are responsible for the last round, late 1800's to 1929, are dead. with only brief intervals in between where a *person's vote actually mattered.
the system has been skewed to the point that only the **rich and those the **rich like can run. voting has become a means of them controlling 'you' rather then you controlling 'them' because you still believe it makes you free. and in return you freely defend this system against people who try to point out that your not in control anymore. voting for person B instead of A will not change anything, it's still a crappy car even if it's painted race red instead of puke green. and like most entrenched systems, nature and otherwise, i don't see it changing from within like some happy feeling movie plot either. such systems need to be wiped out before change can happen. for example mammals would never of taken over from the dinosaurs if they were not forced into extinction by external means(asteroid impact) even when the mammals had a better way of raising young which meant more survived. the dinosaurs were too entrenched and the mammals could not get a beach head on any of the ecological niches they occupied.
*: during and before 1800 up to early and mid 1900's women were not allowed to vote, neither were blacks and in many places other minorities. the government, other then the out right corruption similar to toady, was more 'of the people' because the definition of 'people' was smaller.
**: i hate to use such a broad term but in this case it fits, just about every public office position in the country requires a butt load of cash to run for. the president position requiring at least 100 million dollars but the current one sitting in office is setting the bar at about 1 billion. each post in congress or the senate can easily cost a candidate millions, anywhere from 1 to over 100. local state government can be had starting from the governor at about $250,000 to close to a million. still well above a solid 95% to 98% of the population. and the local state congress/senate can be had for about the same amount although the starting rate is in the 10's of thousands, expect it to go up as others try to out buy you. gone are the days where a common person can work his or her way into the system because of the costs of simply running a minimum campaign.
because of this only two groups of people are able to run and obtain public office, and neither of them are interested in the interests of the people who supposedly elected them via voting. those who made fortunes running companies and buying government official's, and those who know the only way to be elected is not to convince the public but to tow the line with those who they beg for money from to run their campaign. that was once done under the table but can now be done legally above the table since money = free speech due the supreme court and legalized not affiliated yet affiliated committees like p.a.c.s and super p.a.c.s.
There was a book written in the 80's before the fall of the cult of personality & state worship system of the ussr. called friendly fascism it mostly gets right(except for the parts dealing with the ussr) about the state of our current system. about how they turned voting which was our only form of control of them into a way to control us. how many branches of government became so entwined with the corporate interests they were supposed to watch and regulate that you can't really tell the differnce. how people in those places jump back and forth between the government agency's that are supposed to regulate them and make sure they don't break laws and the companies that are supposed to be regulated. Even if someone 'does' get elected that doesn't serve their interests it explains how they diffuse him/her and contain them. mainly by surrounding him/her with people who are 'experienced' who will show them 'how things work' and 'help him/her get things done' etc. it's still sold today.
call me paranoid but this contest and the ioccc are the reasons why i don't particularly let anything from s.e.l. touch my systems. i am not a good enough coder to be able to tell if what it's doing is what it says it's doing or something the cia wants it to do..
not just russia, mars seems to be a black hole for a lot of other missions as well. remember even sending things to another planet in our solar system is not easy..
... i suppose they think magic fairy's produce the parts for the machines the machines can't make. or the fossil fuel made lube and the quality Hydraulic oil that is needed for them to run.. that metal press doesn't look like it can make most of the parts of the other machines and you sure as heck can't print his strength steel with a 3d printer. i also would not want to work on that CNC Precision Multimachine for both the safety hazards of having high speed rotating belts uncovered as well as how weak they will be if they were made by that 3d printer..
what malware? as long as you stick to the normal market with the phone and not some market based out of china or one of amazon's you will not get any either.
we are at least a year away from 8 being released. plans change and they might change their minds. it would be pref-able that NO motherboard had this option to start with.
i was talking about the american police. many police districts along the border have as much as half if not more of their yearly budget made from either seizing drugs coming in or money on it's way out. if the problem was actually worked on in a way that would solve it you would see a glut of out of work police officers from California to Texas.
because the police make a %^&*( ton of money off the drug trade. they don't want to stop it either. a lot of the police districts in the south near the Mexican border when they seize drugs going north they get money from the feds. when they seize cash going south to the cartel's they get to keep it and add it to their budget. if they solve the problem they will lose money, and they don't want that.
when you do something similar and better then someone who has a ego maniac like personality. people with that kind of personality throw a temper tantrum not unlike a spoiled 2 year old when that happens because they can't stand people being better then them. anyone who has seen pirates of silicon valley http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168122/ will know this. unfortunately it's this kind of personality that large corporations foster and that's why popular culture attribute far too much to both Steve Jobs and Bill Gates when Steve Wozniak and Paul Allen had at the very least a equal hand in the case of the latter, or did most of the work in the case of the former actually designing and building the first few lines of computers for their company.
i credit him in having a hand in the creation of the personal computer, i also credit him in having a major hand in killing the same thing because his ego could not stand having something he created out of his control.
you seem to be missing the gist of the argument. why should i 'pay' Bethesda for their crappy product, and then have to rely on unpaid people who make mods out of their spare time to make what 'should' of been playable for a 60 dollar game out of the box? if i wanted to play that crap yet perfect example of what modern games have become from big name companies 'again' i would rather pirate the thing, then hand the 60 dollars to the mod makers who actually make it playable. especially for someone who is not mentally handicapped and doesn't need their hand held like a toddler because OMG you have actually use your brains to figure out how to find something.
yes, i got tired of the game pointing me exactly where i need to go with the compass. or the regenerating mana taking away any strategy other then spell spamming. or that if you level up a few times your suddenly facing high level monsters with beginner equipment. or that the game maker falsely advertises that you can use multiple ways to solve quests(diplomacy, stealth, or fighting like in daggerfall) when the game is strictly scripted to force you to only fight.(took a peek in their editor.) or that you can do what would even in a remotely rational game which followed it's own canon would be impossible. be the head of both the fighter's and the mage's guild both of which don't like each other..
I have to admit i pirated oblivion, which in turn made me glad i did not spend 60 bucks on the dumbed down. hand holding like your a two year old port of a console designed game that the elder-scroll series has become. when i realized how much crap it was and how many mods i would of had to use to make it playable i deleted it and tossed the disc in the garbage.
just because it's in a case with the apple logo doesn't make the hardware magically better. the parts are exactly the same as the other laptop's granted some laptop models have heat dispersion issues and mac's are not immune. a simple google search would show many mac book both pro and non have had over heating problems. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=overheating+mac+books
sorry but professional and audiophile mean opposite things. professional's know they can get the same product with cheaper non-apple hardware because it's the same thing. audiophiles buy over priced monster cables with gold or platinum thinking it 'reduces' noise when all tests show a cable 1/10th the cost produces the same result.
correct, the power chips they used before had extensions that did tend to give it a slight edge over x86 in encoding and photoshop tasks. they could not lean on this though when jobs on high dictated the move to intel, from then on the marketing point was not to favor content creation but the user experience, 'our machines provide a better top down user experience from the other laptops and desktops'. but that argument has always been rather flimsy to non-existent to those with at least a decent amount of technical knowledge. since those people know that the 1k mac book and that 300-500 dollar intel based acer, or hp, or e-machine share the same intel cpu, foxconn motherboard, ram brand and hard drive. all your paying for is casing, logo, and os, even then your looking at paying the highest vendor markup cost in the computer industry next to monster cables.
no, most are built into the machine except for the mac pro and the price tag that could get you 2x the machine elsewhere and the mac mini which you could use the same amount of money to make a much better mini-itx system.
still, it's a good way to contrast the current environment to the one back then. if something similar happened today, xerox would of initiated a multi-year lawsuit against them. with the end result being something far worse for everyone.
xerox actually invented both the mouse and the gui but the head office people were too dumb to know what a gold mine they had. they let bill gates, steve jobs and ibm copy it and run like mad.

you get hit by the same tax for flash drives, black hard drives, blank dvd's, music players. a few cents to fractions of a cent per mb.

they don't make the cars. they just assemble the parts which are made elsewhere. very few parts in a 'american' car are actually made here.

When that one person left to form openleaks he deleted them off wiki-leaks servers.

copying of what? of making a square or rectangular shaped device? of making a better product?
