  1. Re:What about latency? on Bill Would Make Carriers Publish 4G Data Speeds · · Score: 1

But why, then, do all other internet companies always tell you their "up to" speed and wireless carriers never do?

Some people are still lucky to even HAVE data plans. Data is relatively new to the phone-carrying populace, and so 3G to them just means "fast enough internet for my iPhone" because before 3G, we all accidentally hit the web button on our Motorola RAZRs and found out how goddamn slow it was.

In that sense, now that wireless carriers are becoming internet service providers rather than phone service providers, being clear about speed will start to matter more.

The phone companies are trying to avoid any internet speed commitments. They still want to be phone carriers with a checklist of feature - one being 3G, one being 4G.

If they have to explain what "4G" means, let's just ban the term and say they have to specify the speed under normal operating conditions. Otherwise, let's regulate what 4G means. This proposed regulation seems like some sort of quasi-inbetween that will not make a huge difference because a carrier will advertise 4G!!!!! and in small font "2mbps" - stuff that only us nerds will pay attention to.

While I agree with the general sentiment, I played for about an hour last night and it is really, really ridiculous and over the top. Saying it's denigrating to women is taking it completely out of context. The context is *completely* ridiculous and over the top. It's like South Park - some people like Cartman because they believe what he says, but most people realize he's a parody character.

I mean, you start in a hotel/casino owned by Duke. There are ridiculous posters everywhere featuring Duke - showing that he's the best at this, the best at that. Everything has the nuke symbol on it. A kid asks you for an autograph. Then you go down to the "Duke cave" whose entrance is a golden throne surrounded by nude female statues. It's just so very completely ridiculous that it's not shock humor, like most people are painting it as.

There are multiple tabs: World Clock, Alarm, Stopwatch, Timer.
At the top of World Clock and Alarm, you have Edit and Add.

So you actually add a clock in the world clock tab and add an alarm in the alarm tab. TFA is wrong or misleading.
This makes sense because Cupertino is a default clock listed there, and obviously that is not my city. So I can watch the time of multiple cities. The presentation is pretty clear. Or not.

The GPU is mostly all that matters in games. Your laptop comparison is asinine. I've taken both consoles apart and believe me, the PS3's cooling is crazy non-standard and innovative. The 360 is the cheaper of the two (more like a PC); granted it fails more, but it still has custom fans and heatsinks. I wouldn't say either is skimping on the cooling; it's just the formfactor and the chip combined. The newer versions of both consoles are much cooler as technology has advanced.
