Copyright in well... all cases is more trouble then worth it. An artist should just get off it's lazy ass and tour the world, make money of it's live shows and not give a shit about cd's...
I am a programmer and I rely on copyright laws. I don't have the option to tour the world and make money off live shows of programming.
Microsoft have once again proved that they're ahead of curve, and have already equipped their system with a special facility that displays a red circle on the screen to indicate that all gaming has been suspended for an indefinite period.
That's because people in general don't like new things, even if they are better. They like to have things they are used to. Just look at all the controversy when KDE 4 slightly changed the way the desktop works.
My biggest gripe with KDE4 is that it's slower than KDE3.
that shows what's wrong with gnome. alt-f2 isn't an easy key combo, and then having to type "gnome-terminal", with a -, not the easiest character to type.
I'm sure anyone versed with the terminal won't have this problem. Anyone who does have a problem with this, shouldn't be in the terminal in the first place.
On OS X, command-space (possibly the easiest key combo) brings up the spotlight menu, which will find Terminal after 1-2 letters.
I find spotlight to be a drain on battery power and CPU usage at times, I don't think that's a good idea for a netbook.
Then I realized that the "real" news are filled with sports reports and celeb weddings, and I realized that this is basically the nerd equivalent thereof.
Some of the "real" news is pretty hilarious though:
"The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car. They pursued them. However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat," Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed told Reuters by telephone.
"We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody. We cannot base our information on something mystical. It is something that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being turned into a goat," he said.
While I get superior performance with most source games on Linux, Left 4 Dead, while it does perform better, has some annoying graphics glitches that can be irritating. Hopefully those will be resolved shortly.
Until the UK mobile network operators begin to get realistic with their data pricing structures, 3G/4G services will be the preserve of those with too much money and not enough initiative.
It doesn't cost me any more to use the 3G network servers than it does to use the equilivent on the 2G networks.
Every time (well, most of the time) there a new Slashdot article is posted or commented on with any vague furry connotation, I see you incessantly whining about the representation of your sexual fetish (as if anyone cares).
The amusing thing about many anti-furry trolls is that they are often jelous of the fact furs can find amusement in doing little things, however, they also love the fact that they can get a rise out of a few of them easily. I think this AC didn't get enough love and attention as a child and I feel sorry for him, one can only hope the future gets better for him.
Animals and people have a right to be unique, to be their own people, and uniquely created by the randomness of nature rather than have their identity and characterists defined and dominated by someone else. This is very little different from surgically altering animals or people to suit the agenda of some scientist, for whatever evil purpose, to make them more subservant or docile, or what have you.
I beleive such technology can be used for "good", developing ways to ensure people/animals are truely independent, where as in their nature, they aren't. I am not close minded enough to consider this forbidden territory. I am tired of people who prevent technological progress.
You said what slowed things down for you was a few heavy processes. Fair to say those were services?
No, for example, running, "Second life", vmware/virtualbox, morphvox, VLC playing a movie all at the same time - Something very common I'd do. The system would start stutting and locking up under Vista sporadically. It doesn't do that under Windows 7 and this is with new installations, same drivers, same software.
For example, the plug & play service will not start until devices that need it are detected. Windows Domain services are only started when a domain is detected (as opposed to always running, just in case you connect to a domain). These services turn off automatically once they're not needed.
I honestly don't see it being a services issue, the applications that take up the CPU are the same desktop applications I use under Vista. I imagine there is something improved with the schedular or something else. I did not observe anything weird happening, I/O, RAM, CPU usage with proccess explorer and the same usage is seen on Win7 - nothing to indicate a service was causing the issue.
If consumers had the convenient option of saving a little money on a new computer while also maintaining all their familiar tools and settings over by imaging (e.g. ghosting, or moving the hard disk across) from their old computer across to their new, faster computer, most consumers, with the possible exception of gamers, would use it.
That will never happen because organizations like "Geek Squad" already charge a huge price just for copying data.
The idea that it would be cheaper to buy a new machine and have someone mirror the data from the old to the new costing less than a new machine with a cheap windows license is ludicrous in my honest opinion.

I heard the switch was controlled by a HAL 9000 series computer.
That just means there is a lot of trolls on "eve-o forums".
It told me to goto a highlighted thing on my screen, there was no highlighted thing. I couldn't figure out what to do.
I disagree, it is complex.
The tutorial obviously wasn't working for me.
Indeed, to begin with -- it doesn't even have a BSD kernel.
I did.
Yep, I've done already done that with Left 4 Dead, call of duty 4, team fortress 2, Second life, Furcadia.
Indeed.
This is meant to be impressive or news worthy?
I wrote a opensource IRC relay system for Second life back in 1.9.
It isn't hard or even more news worthy in my opinion.
Just going to take a guess and assume it's not included by default.
Personally, I prefer Yakuake.
My biggest gripe with KDE4 is that it's slower than KDE3.
Copy Windows? Not really.
Because it's always been ALT+F2. You can however change the key bindings easily in KDE (no idea about Gnome) if you want.
ALT+F2 is standard for the most popular desktop environments on Linux.
I'm sure anyone versed with the terminal won't have this problem. Anyone who does have a problem with this, shouldn't be in the terminal in the first place.

And then later
I have come the conclusion that the people the poster was complaining about and the poster are one and the same.
Apparently these people post ironic messages on Slashdot after their hobby has been impacted.
While I get superior performance with most source games on Linux, Left 4 Dead, while it does perform better, has some annoying graphics glitches that can be irritating. Hopefully those will be resolved shortly.
Disable javascript.

I bawww for you, Mr. Anonymous Coward.
The only online distribution service I use is Steam, does Steam not work for you?
I am a furry and... I couldn't care less?
The human-animaal fiction I enjoy is not related to this research at all.
The idea even disturbs me a little.

Ah crap, screwed up there, meant to say in Seven I get 45fps.
I can't compare with XP because certain drivers for XP didn't exist for my hardware configuration.
I get 12fps in Vista in left 4 dead, in Vista I get 45fps. Don't care what you claim, that's how it was for me.
