  1. There is help on Building Social Skills in Gifted Youths? · · Score: 1

I hope you take this the right way, but the kind of social anxiety you describe is one that a shrink can help you with. If nothing else there are pharmacuticals.

Already the feds have been taken to court by an OnStar like company to remove the wire from a car. That wire consisted of opening the cellular link to the car and turning on the microphone. The feds heard every word said in the car, and they didn't have to get within a hunderd miles of it at any time

I hate to defend this behavior, but, in technical fields there tends to be a high number of socially inept people. We once called them (and ourselves most likely) nerds, and now try to insist that they are geeks (cool nerds). The interviewer may have been trying to be funny, with no clue that it was inappropriate in general much less in an group interview.

  5. Leadership on Consequences of Turning Down a Promotion? · · Score: 5, Insightful

It is obvious from your description that your superiors feel the other teams problems come from the head. They also feel that you might be the person to take charge and fix the other team. If you don't feel up to the challenge, be honest about it, but expect it to effect future promotion opportunities. If you feel like taking on the challenge you have the potential to make yourself look very good. I suggest getting some good leadership books.

Where as part of the question was if, the other part of the question was how. And that answer the engineers don't usually put on their websites, because the marketing guys don't let them anywhere near it.

And if you think that HOW is a BS question, why are you here?

To my understanding, your ear places sounds spatially by volume. It sounds louder in the closer ear.

Beyond that, unless you have a really big head, the difference in arrival time to each ear is less than a microsecond. That is surely too small for your brain to comprehend.

  8. Re:Mars is a dangerous place on Spirit Rover Communications Error · · Score: 2, Interesting

Yeah, I mean when Kennedy called for landing a man on the moon we were getting one successful launch for every four or five attempts. But this Mars thing, us Americans are only getting two successes for every three attempts. Maybe we need to improve our success rate before going.

Does no one study history, America needs a challenge in order to rise up to it.

  9. Kennedy was a Fool on One-Way Ticket to Mars? · · Score: 1

Mars is winning 20 to 16.

When Kennedy said hey let's send a man to the moon. The USA was only getting one rocket into space for very three or four fired, much less any were near the moon. Already the odds above look better. Then add to that all the players included in the scorecard. Fact is when it comes to the good ole US of A, Mars is losing 4 to 7. Nearly two successes for every failure, and when Opportunity touched down it will be two success for every failure.

My dad does tech support for Boeing. The techs unionized last year. Union contract gave them a $2,000 signing bonus, and they missed out on over $8,000 in profit sharing this year alone. Needless to say, the union is on it's way to being de-ceritified. Unions don't often consider the long term effects of their actions.
