The line's "Pay the man! NO!" from Pay the Man (by far the best song on the Americana CD). Offspring was good before they sold out.
But still, why not just keep the classics on console or an old system or whatever? People still build MAME machines for Mortal Kombat and Pac-Man, which are at least 20 years old. Old is still good.

As a semi-rural Nebraskan, I can also say the local music scene is HUGE here. I play bass for one of the bands in my town of about 7,000. We have, at the very least, six different bands, and more will arise. Some of them are pretty big names and play at clubs all around. I guess my entire point is because the local record stores sell nothing but the RIAA's crap, we're turning to playing our own shows instead, and people like it. Sure, we might not ever make it big, but it's a hell of a lot of fun and beats the RIAA crap.

This has happened before. I remember reading in an old issue of GamePro that Primal Rage had been banned in the USA for being in bad taste. It's been a while since I read this, so I might be forgetting a detail or two, making me wrong and looking stupid, but I know they at least tried to ban it. It's a damn shame if they do ban it, GTA rocks and stuff.

Neat, FP. I commented on the rural internet access thing in this thread, saying we need a way to get internet access to the rural areas, and the crazy bastards might have enabled just that. As they say, radness ensues.

Exactly. I live in rural Nebraska, and you can't get DSL or cable internet if you live more than a couple miles out of town, and our asshole phone company has no apparent plans I'm aware of to extend the lines. A lot of my friends are still stuck on 44k dialup because that's the only choice they have (Slashdotters without broadband...sad), and it kicks them offline worse than AOL. There needs to be an effort of some sort to make broadband avaliable everywhere, at an affordable cost.
That all being said, it is pretty cool that researchers are getting their own private phat pipe. We can only wonder how much pr0n and MP3s are gonna be traded as well, though.

  8. Barmonkey on Linux-powered Mobile Cocktail Mixer · · Score: 3, Insightful

I prefered the Barmonkey to this by far. This site seems to just link to Barmonkey, say "we liked it but did it different. Please look at us." Barmonkey went into a lot more detail on what parts in specific that they used, took a lot more/better pictures, and the whole shebang looked a lot better (IMO). As far as the source goes, the guy commented and said he'd send the source to anyone who wants it (I jumped on this and do have a copy of the source). This all said, both of the ideas are excellent. Wish I had the time and money to do it myself.
