People don't endure rapes and sexual assualts; they suffer them
Does that apply to other crimes as well, or only rape and sexual assault? If a victim of wife beatings, assault, etc doesn't suffer, but closes their eyes and endures, does that mean it isn't a crime?
This case is groundless unless the alleged victim had a serious reason for "not articulating" herself properly
A long history of women shutting up and enduring sex even if they don't really want to is a pretty good reason.
That said, I don't think the first case has much of a case. Trying to prove what she is saying would be incredibly hard, and even if she did manage to prove it, it's a gray zone. But I do think it's good that she did report it, people need to learn to listen, talk, and observe during sex.
The second case should be brought to court. Initiating sex while the other party is sleeping is nothing short of rape, unless you actually know the other party very well, and knows that he/she doesn't mind. But as usual, it will be incredibly hard to prove, and he would probably walk free even if he did it. But it sets an example that it is NOT OK to do stuff like that.
It feels kind of sad that JA has to be a person who gets that role (and by extension WikiLeaks, since people can't separate the two), but he shouldn't stand above the law, just because he is who he is.
As a vegetarian since my teenage years, I have no problems with this.
But I won't eat it to a great extent. Since I became a vegetarian I've learned to enjoy non-fabricated food. Food made from raw ingredients taste so much better than fabricated food, and most of my vegetarian friends are of the same opinion. (my meat eating friends are also of this opinion, but they still buy a lot more fabricated food than my vegetarian friends)
This would fall in the same category as, and could be used as a replacement for, Quorn. Which I do use a couple of times a month for easy proteins.
The happiest people will probably be vegetarians meat eating parents, who no longer needs to make a special meal just for us when they're having dinner parties:)
and isn't even actually rape, but rather a failure to stop consensual sex
There is no such thing as "failure to stop consensual sex", the moment a women doesn't want to have sex anymore, the sex becomes non consensual, or rape. "Failure to stop consensual sex" would be if both were still consenting, but for some reason couldn't stop.
It's quite sad to see peoples attitudes towards women. I've held/., as a community, in quite high regard when it comes to morals, if you read at 4+ at least. But it seems that it doesn't extend to women.
But then again, I live in the hornets nest of revolutionary feminism that is Sweden. And I've been raised with the knowledge that women have the same rights as men, and that I shouldn't have sex with people that doesn't want to have sex.
Neither is touchpads and startingblocks in swimming. I've been a timekeeper for our local swimmingclub for a couple of years using this equipment, and so have my dad before me.
What makes it news is that almost noone knows about the equipment that gives them their times (or disqualifes them).
And to a poster a bit down, the equipment I use is able to measure down to 1/1000 of a second, but this is rarely used due to the incertainty. A swimmer might finish 1/1000 of a second before an other, but how do you prove that the second swimmer didn't hear the starting signal 3/1000 of a second later and deserve to win?
It works great, I'm using the older MP-100 with 2.4.21 and all I needed to do was to activate USB Mass Storage and a couple of other things, don't remember exactly which but there weren't any special, just the usual.
This is a very good point. I don't remember who said it but it went something like this (freely translated):
"If you want the roads to be safer you shouldn't fit the cars with more security, instead you should put a huge spike in the middle of the steering wheel. Everyone would drive really carefully with that."
I wonder how many people will bother to download the patch though; I doubt many people keep up to date on that sort of thing. Sneaky on the part of MS, really. By the time someone noticed that they were breaking the rules, it was too late for the vast majority of Windows users.
I don't think it's sneaky at all.
Those who don't want to use IE for their online music shopping will download the patch and be happy.
Those who don't download the patch either use IE anyway and is happy about it or they don't do online music shopping through Windows.

On larger competions we use laser to measure the pool length (we can actually change the length of the pool) to get it quite exact.
But you are correct, to get it within the millimeter is almost impossible.
Putting RFID chips on your shoes is nothing new.

Then, it was just to plug it in and mount.
Only on /. would a comment like that be modded "4, Informative".

Microsoft was sub $100 for your sub $1000 pc
;)
Now a days it's more like $1000 for your sub $100 pc.
It was introduced at a price of $666 that included 4K bytes of RAM and a tape of Apple BASIC.
;)
And you all thought Microsoft was the evil company.

Everybodys happy in the end.
