    They could have turned this into a great commerial. Some guy that only orders stuff from companies that ship with fedex so he can get the boxes to make furniture or something to that effect. Now they are looking like some company who just want to pick on the little guy.

    The desktop market: yes
    The server market: no

    Linux does not have a big footing in the desktop market and may never have. But MAC OS X beat Linux as a server platform I do not see it happening.

    According to the article this namesapce is strictly for mobile devices. The actual TLD has not decided yet. This is going to be a namespace for your mobile number for instance bob.jones.cingular.mobile will be your mobile phone or wifi address. Well let us see how this one plays out.

    That microsoft is scared of linux. Because they want to know their 'enemy' in a sense. But also just from a pure techinical stand point is also good to know how other people do things so you can learn from them and improve on how you do things

    But an easy way for your devices to communicate is needed. As a geek I can easily put together any stereo, video, gaming, blah blah blah system. Alot of just wants to be able to plug the device into any spot and have it work. What would really be cool is a hub like device the make it easier for people to connect different entertainemnt compents and have them work nicely with each other.

    If you write something that is usefull and/or fun. People are going to use it. For example I use the Spreadsheet::WriteExcel module at work. Yes perl writing excel documents. I used because there was a need. I fixed a bug in one of the optional modules because that was a feature we use and need to work correctly. Would I ever picked up and use that module on my own. Maybe if I came across it and wanted to create an spreadsheet for some silly reason but I highly doubt it. But I had a need to create an excel spreadsheet on a unix server so I filled that need.

    The problem with any system in place is that when convenience is place ahead of security. The more convenient it is made for the people who it is going to protect and the people who are enforcing the system the less secure it will become. Well at least that is what I think part of the problem is.

    Will it take for such a thing to be done with (put in your favorite encryption scheme). Dictionary attacks will become easier everyday because computing power and hard drive space are becoming more abundent. Is the answer just to move to a bigger set of prime number each time computing power get bigger or to move to a another type of encrytption scheme all together well only time will tell.
