    Car companies aren't allowed to tell you that you'll get 400mpg, and then put in the fine print that it will only happen if you are coasting down a hill with the engine off.

    Your analogy is wrong. What Verizon and other are doing is more like telling you that you'll get 400mpg, and then put in the fine print that this will only work for the first 400 miles of each month, after which you'll need to either pay up or get 1 mpg for each additional mile.

    I'm pretty sure in this case he was talking about the cellular/3G usage, but it's a slippery slope to DSL & FIOS.

    But seriously, it really was no worse than various other bombings, except for the scale. A nuke may kill more people than a fuel-air explosion, but the innocents killed are just as dead.

    Yes, they obviously didn't think of the people down there as human beings. But hey, at least they waited for permission. Hopefully the person giving them permission to open fire was not an 18-year old thinking he was playing a video game. That's the guy that needs to be questioned.

    Reminds me of that scene in full metal jacket -- "How can you shoot women and children?" "Easy, you just don't lead 'em as much!"

    And that also reminds me of a quote from the first Mass Effect novel.

    Disable it? Hell, I can't figure out how to enable it! Nothing shows up in firefox (though I gave temporary permissions to everything on the page through noscript).

    IE blocks some cookies or scripts, but I don't feel like playing with that.

    Oh, so it's kind of like a game which allows 2D movement only (up/down, left/right) at any one time, but being able to hit a button to rotate the field 90% so that "left/right" go into the direction which used to be "far/near"?

    Too many hard lines everywhere.

    Easy fix for this one at least: Lower the resolution and let the drivers or monitor do fixed aspect ratio scaling for you :)
