Tyranosaurus existed because we have 10 fossils. Prior to 1993 we had 3 of them. Three bones. For a species that was around longer than ours have been. We had the right bones to know what they ate and roughly how big they were and even their approximate shape. We have no idea how smart they were, if they were social creatures... and no means of finding out either.
I'm sure if they had made large objects out of steel (skyscrapers?) we would have seen some evidence of that.
A $200 card that gives you 120FPS is not twice as good as a $100 card that gives you 60FPS.
It is when the next generation of games comes around. And even for current games you can just set for maximum anti-aliasing and that will get you back down to 60:)
Also, its not all about average framerates - gotta keep the minimum framerates in mind. I'd rather have a card with a rock steady 45fps than one that averages 60 but often drops into the 30s and below.
Personally, I don't see how non-square pixels are in any way going to be able to help make a smoother image -they have to have edges somewhere, if those edges don't match up with the edges in the image you're displaying, you're out of luck.
But with variable-shaped pixels, you could custom the pixel to fit the edges of the image!
But, in the end, he's still saying that video games can never be art.
No he's not. In the end he's saying that he failed to find a definition of art that can conclusively rule out video games, and that while he doesn't see himself be as moved by a game as by a movie, he can not rule out that some gamers actually have that kind of experience.
A girl I was talking to about this a few years ago said that a man once offered her $1,000 and she had an orgasm right there sitting in the chair in the bar.
Just offering a girl money can get her to orgasm? Damn, I've been doing it wrong all these years!
Quick question, is that the PC or a console version? The controls are screwed unless you're getting 60fps on the PC, massive input lag meaning you end up constantly oversteering.
Hmm, thanks for the advice! It sometimes dropped below 60. I turned off AA and Vsync, and it handles better now - though that might also be partly because I also decreased the steering deadzone to 15% from default 20%.
Hmm, we have the old type (read: non-digital") Comcast cable service, and there are no boxes or converters. Of course they've been dropping channels and raising prices continuously...
No, the rapist is 100% to blame. The mother is 85% to blame, tops.
Hey, blame overlaps.
And that will keep the kid from showing of to his/her friends when they come over?
Maybe the implication is that an event that could cause such a burst should show up as out of the ordinary across the spectrum?

Until the robots decide that rather than killing each other for no reason, it would be in their best interest to band together against a common foe?
It wasn't a crime at the time of publication: Copyright only protected works produced by U.S. citizens within the U.S. Therefore, it was not piracy.
So, what you're saying is, it was privateering?
Wait, the 8800 GT is part of the flagship line, is it not? I mean you included the 8800 in the flagship list without specifying GTX....
Plus, I've yet to see a game which won't run happily on a 9800 GT.
That really depends on the game settings, resolution, etc.

Dammit, Bob, I'm a programmer, not a hardware designer!

And I don't mean the cyberspace of course. But I remember pipemania-like minigame needed to open a few doors, one right near the beginning.
IIRC that was also the mechanic in the first System Shock, which many consider one of the most immersive games of all time.

"Justice" that you can't take back when DNA evidence exonerates the convict.
Yup, definitely sounds like something crooks would do.
Wait, what am I missing?

Considering I can't finish a single GRID race, even in last place, without wiping out half a dozen times, maybe I should stay away from cars IRL?

Maybe it's someone trying to point out the problems with electronic voting?
10% of men are homosexuals, but people still sell pictures of boobs
Are you implying that lesbians aren't interested in boobs?
How about this:
CREATE PROCEDURE pleaseFireMe ( @injection varchar(1000) )
AS
EXEC(injection)
As the Death Star was the size of a small moon, this one would be a Death Galaxy....
It also really sucks for families of those who killed themselves not knowing about this little change in policy.
