Are you the same group of people posting links to the EFF, and complaining about violations of privacy?
This might be surprising to some of you, but being a sociopath is not illegal. Nor should it be grounds for not getting hired into a job. Being a sociopath does not mean you will become a serial killer either, despite what hollywood tells you. 3% of all men, and 1% of women are sociopaths. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sociopath/
If someone has the intellegence and ability to do the job, who cares if they won't cry when someone else gets burned? As long as they are a law abiding citizen, they should be able to live a normal life.
(Unless anyone with "mental disease" should be locked away)
KWifiManager, when I used it a few months ago, was pretty buggy. Didn't hold up to boingo or WinXP's default wireless manager. It also has trouble SETTING UP the inital connection (often you'll have to use iwconfig to set it up, and hope kwifimanager doesn't mess up your settings).
It's a sad state when your only real wifi managment in linux is a few BASH scripts in your home diretory.
Laser printers last longer, usually have cheaper ink (HP LaserJet III has cheaper ink than most Lexmark printers, and lasts for months of heavy print usage).
InkJets, however, are expensive to refill, usually shoddy quality, and you end up replacing them once a year.
Just grab a used HP LaserJet III for your printing needs. If you need color, then get a damn color laser printer.
Stop blamming the people who ban tor nodes from their network.
The real problem is with the tor nodes who give unrestricted access. If you're running a node in order for people to be able to browser the web anonymously, then WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW TRAFFIC TO PORT 22 OR 6667?
Most tor nodes don't restrict traffic, and are irresponsible. Don't belive me? Check it out for yourself:
4. how about an integrated mouse in a laptop? it could snap on/off and you could use it on the side, then just have the cord retract and it would re-attach to the machine
My old tobisha laptop (486) had this very feature. Guess it never caught on.
You might want to, and even try, but you could not succeed and still exist. So, if you're able to go back in time, you know for a fact that your father and mother cannot be killed (or you couldn't have gone back in the first place).
By your logic, the government should keep itself away from our private affairs, no matter the repercusions (which I agree with).
For the sake of argument, however, is the loss of non-essential liberties worth the saftey of other citizens?
Nope. You have to see how some people see this though; some people are willing to give up their freedoms in exchange for saftey. And that's fine... as long as it doesn't affect what I can do, and my privacy.
If so, why not just put poledit on a floppy disk, and remove the restrictions so you can bypass the proxy? You might have to rename poledit.exe to iexplorer.exe or similar. (If they allow student logins, then all defaults will be set when you log out, and no logs will be kept).
Otherwise, you could always bring in a laptop or knoppix, couldn't you?
Does society shun them for being geeks, or for not bathing and being annoying/arrogant?
Otherwise it's society itself that's to blame for people who cannot interact with the rest of society.
Sounds like blaming someone else for your problems. It's a person's fault if they don't get up off their ass and go hang out. Hell, you can find people around town at sites like buddypics.com
All programs that an average user would be activily using close, and you know damn well that's what I meant.
So unless you're trying to point out that apache wouldn't be affected like this (and I'm sure that all desktop users have such things running), my point stands.
I'm talking about the graphical UI, not something on tty1.
Right now they are all dual boot with Gentoo/WinXP. Good for you, but I'm not sure why you told us this. Do we care?
If AMD follows suit I just may switch to Mac entirely> I'm sorry, are you saying you'll throw away your current x86 machines and buy macs to replace them? Or that you'll just buy new Macs (that will probably also have DRM built in).
Look, it's nice to know that you read/watched 1982. Or atleast picked up enough of it from people on slashdot to make a comment like this.
But christ, can't you atleast make a point? Yes, DRM isn't attractive to many people... but this has nothing to do with 1982 nor with government control. Jackass.
Are we still having serious problems with people not being able to use their computers 100% with Linux?
Yes. Especially with laptops. ACPI support especially is a major problem with laptops, built in wireless and/or pcmcia wireless cards (ndiswrapper works with a few, but quite a few chipsets will cause your computer to randomly FREEZE when using ndiswrapper).
Acer laptops especially have problems with Linux. Older Laptops arn't a problem (such as yours), but newer laptops have huge problems with linux.
No one else has a problem with this?

Bullshit.
In the article it doesn't show you the price (only alludes to the cost of the hybrid hardware inside it).
Hybrid cars are expensive and inconvient in areas that don't give you the ablity to easily recharge your battery.
This has nothing to do with the US either, so stop your bullshit America bashing. Does Europe suddenly only use hybrid cars?
a suitable (non physical) punishment should be issued
What's wrong with a physical punishment? A spanking is needed every now and then.
Be firm, but reasonable, and your kid will listen to you and respect you.

./work,
He argues that developing space weapons is a surefire way to launch a new space weapon race.
The space race boosted technology, so it seems to reason that a space-weapons race would do the same thing.
The goal might not be admirable, but the technology we'd gain from it would be.
Don't buy Dell.
Grab a HP LaserJet (color or not, depending on what you want).
Toner is expensive (but comparable to inkjet), but it'll last you a hell of a lot longer
Why the hell is this marked 'Troll'?

I'm glad I'm not the only guy around here who believes in government mandated castration.
OSNews used to be a site I visited quite a bit, about two years ago. Good articles, intresting comments...
But now, it's hardly updated and the people who are there are idiots.
Do they use a proxy (like Bess)?

Five years? It's not September.... how is this news?

It's a typo. :)
When you change graphical drivers in linux, you'll have to restart X.... which is surprisingly similar to restarting Windows.
;)
All programs close, and you have to log back in. Unless Linux is superior in the repesct that you don't have to go through POST.
In Windows, I didn't have to restart when installing my nvidia drivers.
Right now they are all dual boot with Gentoo/WinXP.

Firstly, that's what slashdotters do. ;) They over react.
But I havn't heard anyone say "BOYCOTT INTEL!". I've seen people say they won't buy motherboards with the 945 chipset. That's it.
Would you consider buying a motherboard with DRM built in?
Look, it's nice to know that you read/watched 1982. Or atleast picked up enough of it from people on slashdot to make a comment like this.

You havn't figured it out yet?
On slashdot, ranting about the US gets you a minimum of +3 Insightful.
