Granted, I read it recovering from surgery with anesthesia in my system, but I found it to be prohibitively dense material for concepts that don't warrant that density.
The contribution to programming from those concepts will be fully realized when they are expressed in a form easily digestible by busy programmers who have to do a lot in the real world.

One small keystroke for a man, one giant leap forward for version obscurity.
At least they are not doing the asinine thing that Sun's marketing has done with Java, with first going from version 1.2 to "Java 2" and now "Java 5".
Windows programmers don't know how to program without a GUI.
Linux programmers don't know how to program with a GUI.
Mainframe programmers wonder what a GUI is.
If this wasn't a facetious post it would be indicative of an ignorance of all kinds of programming.
Even VB programmers, at some point, have to type their code in and I am sure they do a lot of it for complex applications.
Interesting I should find this article on slashdot tonight.
I met a mainframe programmer at a dinner I went to.
She said she used to make a lot more money and her opportunities are much more tight then they used to be.
I thought it was cool that she was still employed
...as much as I'd love for SCO to get their arses handed to them, I wouldn't get excited until their suit is actually thrown out of court.
I will not get excited until SCO gets their case thrown out of court AND IBM decides to make an example out of them by suing them in return for all of the bullshit.
I amazed that this case has gone on for so long on so little.
"Broadcasters have recently accepted a deadline of January 2009 for the mandatory end of analog television signal broadcasts. Broadcasters have expressed concerns that those without subscription television services will see blank screens unless they buy new units."
Yay! Free at last!
I use knoppix myself, I think it is the best distro out there and I plan on continue using knoppix.
I am just posting this because I was curious about it and had to go to the trouble to find out.
If you are interested in installing the DVD version of Knoppix to your hard drive you have to install it all. You can't pick and choose among the software.
You forgot anonymous people who have nothing better going on in their day then to hide behind a tree on the internet and shout out rude bits at people.
These people are a day late and dollar short worrying about what cookies will do to online marketing.
They should be worrying about what the mozilla extension AdBlock is doing to them, particularly the ability to block with regular expressions.
I am still amazed that people put all of their banner ads in a directory on their server called "ads" which makes it easy to block advertisements without blocking anything else.
I would make a comment about their intelligence, but how smart can I be blowing the whistle on this thing?
Theo de Raadt can always come to slashdot and say that is the case.
Given the amount of respect that the BSD and gnu/linux worlds have for each other, I think if your scenario was the case he would come to slashdot to avoid needless tension.
This guy is one of the people behind Open BSD which wants to fill the gnu/linux niche and for various unfair ( and fair ) reasons missed the boat.
This is coming off as jealous in the article, like the girl ignored at the high school dance who decides to talk trash about the girl the guys are dancing with.
He comes off looking bad and were I involved with OpenBSD it would be my wish for him to stop talking as his behavior is a bad reflection on that good project.
It is my understanding that the concord did not fail because of technology, but because of fuel costs.
Airlines just found it too expensive to operate.
I am guessing since two groups of smart people want to start this up that they have an idea around this problem so that a new generation of supersonic passenger jets don't sit on the ground.
CNN's experts say we will have another dot.com boom.
However, my office mate who watched a film on Nostradamus told me that good ole Nostros predicts that the U.S. will become a poor country and that India will become a rich superpower.
If it is one lesson the Bush Administration will teach everyone is that voting and who you vote for counts.
That book needed more examples.

Does ubuntu use the new debian installer?
Interesting!
I heard about the new installer being under developement a long time ago, but I did not know it was finished.
Is it as easy as knoppix to use?
Are there problems with drivers not being avaiable do to free software issues?
Does it come with multimedia stuff compiled into the kernel?
Please don't interpret this as a downer.

FWIW.....
Thanks for the cool information!
Is it worth it for a linux desktop home user to switch to OpenSolaria?
Are there visible goodies to have? Better apps? Better fonts/graphics etc? Better stability? Better performance.
Is there a reason for a desktop/end user to bother?
Steve

I would say that the first step to terra forming is to get the hang of not reverse terra forming our own planet.
Terra forming does not have to be left to the high powered scientist of the distant future.
We can do it here, now on Earth. Trade in the SUV for a hybrid or a smaller car. Use green technologies. At least stop littering.
That could be true.

CNN or Nostrodamus via my office mate?
Longhorn can come out next year, Debian was released ;)
The rumor mill says this is just manuevaring by Apple to get better treatment by IBM
I realize some people love them.
I am luke warm.
I never had a problem with putting up a web page if I had something to express.
I never found people's personal blogs to be interesting.
I find it annoying when blogs are used for interactive exchange instead of web board software.
My comments can be found on my blog
If I had time on my hands I would try it out.
Then again I am a bachelor.
I didn't say the U.S. government had ethics either.
