What a load of self-righteous drivel.

For one, you are so far off-topic its not funny.

Two, there is a reason why groups like the AMA filter who can/can't be a doctor - no price fixing isn't one of them - standards. I'm quite happy to know that doctors here are suitably qualified. Why? Because do get the odd (immigrant) doctor who isn't up to scratch. e.g. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=doctor+death+que ensland

Your friend must be some neurosurgeon. If they are honestly suitably qualified, then I would certainly question the system - without the unnecessary rhetoric - and ask why. Can you explain what reason the AMA gave your friend? Otherwise take your medicine (pardon the pun) be quiet.

    Back on topic,...
Kevin, your web server is down ... you must be one of those really, really good super qualified IT employee's Australia needs.

    What about Lustre (http://www.lustre.org)?

BTW, implicitly, closed != bad. Yes, sometimes it does, but not always.

Also, by what definition is a filesystem a "cluster filesystem". One in which the cluster nodes can (a) access, (b) provide or (c) access and provide the filesystem? Not every flavour of clustered filesystem falls in the same category.

I do agree with the license comment on closed source systems - the per-node license fees are ridiculous.

That position came up after an auditor was required! If you think the Financial Reporting position will be tough to fill, try and find an auditor that will say "yep, your books look in tip top shape!".

Darl must have thought long and hard on his business plan. Its so different to the "ride either horse" comment referring to Unix and Linux in the computer world article.

So after you alienate your existing customer base and a large portion of the ITC community, who is left to sell your product to? MS using companies?? If you get to talk to the CIO or equal at an MS product using company, do you really think they'd even consider buying a product from a company that is likely to litigate?

SCO market share == 0, after the court case...

  8. No monopoly for MS on Microsoft Unhappy With HP's iTunes Decision · · Score: 2, Interesting

Its great that users have even more of a choice with HP getting involved with iPod - heck, it may even push the price down. And the alternative is to use a Dell player and MS s/ware? Pfff ... that's not a choice.

The point on interoperability is so true: Apple started to bridge the divide - in online music at least - with iPod/iTunes for Windows. Now HP are going to help bridge this further (and make $$'s from it of course).

So just how many brownie points did Dell earn with the "we love the MS monopoly"?

What you missed is its FROM $0.99. Most - as femto posted earlier are $1.99!

So my average 10 track CD costs $20, AND I have to burn it myself... not good value for money. Getting access to Apple Itunes in the USA would be better value even on the current exchange rate.

Why not offer a whole album option? Say $10-12??

Not a "mix it yourself" selection of songs but the same as you'd get buying a CD. That way both the many * short-tracks and few*long-tracks are covered. That way both the artists and consumer is happy... what you mean the label doesn't make much on the deal? Damn!

In either way its a start for us Aussies ... in a few months other services will be coming on line. Til then I think I'll sit back a bit and watch the catalogues grow and hopefully the prices drop.

BTW, I even saw a couple of free promo tracks, so its not ALL $1.99. Then again City Rules by Daniel Merriweather isn't my thing :^(
