  1. I actually just did this... on How To Travel With LCD Gaming Screen? · · Score: 1

... transporting my LCD from home to the dorm 2000 km away. I taped a plastic cover to the screen (it came with a little sheet blocking the screen - I kept it), wrapped it in a thick comforter, and put it in my suitcase.

Not a single scratch or dead pixel on it.

Wow, I wish it was like that here... in South Florida, my DSL ISP is Bellsouth.net. They are the only one. Before you tell me to go hunt for others and such, hear me out.

If, lets say, I want to go to another ISP, bellsouth tells them that I can't receive DSL service in my area. (Bellsouth is also my local phone carrier. Gee, what surprise) ... no, I'm not kidding. Been through it. Ticks me off too. I'd take a speed cut if I didn't have to put up with my moronic ISP to say the least....

I still say the solution is that ISPs tack on an extra 5 USD (or equivilent in other currency) on to net connection bills, then allow free legal access. *shrug*

I'm a college student. I bought a PDA the summer before I entered, preparing for what I thought I would need for the University. Spent 299 USD on the PDA.

... never spent a better 299 ever. Also picked up a targus keyboard, and I use it to take notes. As someone with an average /. typing speed (110 wpm), I type far faster then I write... so, I take very complete notes, I can pay attention to the professor (since I'm not busily writing), and my grades have improved.

I have yet to see it completely crash to the point where I need to reload it (I've had it for a little over a year), which is something I can't say for Palm. I also have no problems hardware wise, nothing is insensitive, and it works perfectly fine for me! That, and I like color. I dislike Palm due to previous problems with their hardware AND OS.

  21. Anyone else think "Pot and Kettle"? on AOL Time Warner Files Anti-Trust Suit against MS · · Score: 1

    Lets look at this.
Microsoft holds a huge marketshare of computer software, from OSes, to office suites, to browsers. However, they are (for all practical purposes) limited to computers.

AOL-TimeWarner (AOL = EVIL!). Holds both Vertical and Horizontal Integration, BOTH of which are qualifications for being a monopoly by themselves. Not only do they hold a massive percentage of the population on their ISP, but they also control everything from the cable lines to the ISP to the content provided to them. They also control multiple media formats, as well as multiples of each of those!

I'm sorry- I view AOL more of as a monopoly then Microsoft even. Microsoft may hold higher percentages, but it is in just a few areas- AOL owns high percentages in a few DOZEN areas.

I'll stick with my phrase: AOL = EVIL!

Bleem! was a great concept- PSX emulator on the PC for sale to the public. I saw those ugly yellow boxes in the local comptuer stores myself- it was enticing.
However, other emulators came up. VGStation took Bleem!'s place on the top of the line quickly as it was more compatable. Then Sony sued...
Bleem! stopped updating, and virtually abandoned the PC emulation market for something new- a commercial PSX emulator for the Dreamcast. It was a bright future, if it weren't for two things- one, only one game would work on it, and two, the DC was dying.
The PS2 would never need a PSX emulator.
The GC and X-Box were far away at that point. Bleem! had no choice but to slowly fade away. I guess they finally gave up.

There are better PSX emulators now (ePSXe is considered by me to be the best)... but it is still sad to see someone in the Emulation community go away.

    Farewell Bleem!.
