What would an HR department think?
Well, when it comes to hiring technical people, HR doesn't know it's ass from a hole in the ground. To them its all about buzz words. So the university you attend will matter to some degree...at least in the beginning of your career.

Back in the 80's a company called Datapoint already had this design for their IBM clone called a Vista-PC. So yeah, not new.
