I work retail part time. I work at a national chain that has the initials O.D. We are hourly workers so there is no incentive to sell the most expensive item available. There is no commission on the sale of any particular item except extended warranties and add on items. Our stores performance is based on how many add on items and extended warranties we can sell. These items have a much greater markup than the more expensive items we sell, so corporate actually makes more money from selling them. This actually makes it easier to sell the less expensive items which leaves the customer more money to spend on add ons and warranties.
The customers get more than they perhaps expected to, I get commissions on the extras, and the store gets high marks and goodies in return.
The "We have turned on RFM" release was a hoax. Go back and read the story. RFM has been active since Vista was launched. Try not activating Vista for 30 days and see for yourself.
That whole "press release" was just a trick to get people like you all pissed off about something MS has never tried to hide to begin with.
It's been about 5 years since I used kazaa, I switched to shareaza, then eventually to pure Bitorrent because Kazaa had too many fakes and stupid crap on it. Back then Kazaa wasn't a program that ran without showing itself. It didn't share anything except what the user specified (or what the user had downloaded using the program itself).
This guy makes it sound like Kazaa does what it does without any way of knowing it is there doing what it is doing. Has Kazaa changed into this type of program?
I don't think that's what he was saying at all. The tone of the article is that despite UMDs sucking, Sony's going to keep it around post PSP for use in other devices. No one is suggesting that the PSP should be changed to use something other than UMDs at this point, but why carry the crappy storage medium over to the next generation of devices when there are seriously better alternatives?
IMHO, Mod chips are like guns. If a person buys a gun and kills someone with it, is the gun dealer held responsible? If I buy a mod chip and use it to play games I haven't paid for, should the mod chip dealer be held responsible?
I understand that this guy was also selling unauthorized copies of games and HDDs preloaded with games, and he should have to face penalties for that, but why should I be disallowed to by a mod chip simply because I "could" pirate games with it? Should I be disallowed from buying a computer simply because I could copy music, games, or applications with it? I have two Xboxes in my house that are modded, but only so I can use them as media centers and to let me and my daugter play games we own without risking damage to the original DVDs.
You're talking as if the plants and animals suddenly spring to life from nothingness. We're talking about self replicating life here. Generations down the road the cow or bamboo or whatever is going to be on the surface is going to be mutated into god knows what. Generations of bombardment by high energy particles is going to cause damage that is random and irreversible.
Plants that grow from seed once a year,,,, what will they be like in a hundred years?
This is the comment I responded to.......
You're confusing faith and belief. Faith is not believing that some one exists, but that they are a trustworthy and benevolent. Look at the bold portion. Now look at the rest of the parent post...
When you call up your best friend because you need someone to bail you out of jail you have faith in them and hopefully they don't cease to exist. So, not only did the poster clearly define his chosen definition of faith, he even clarified the usage with the friend ceasing to exist example.
The poster chose the definition he wanted and completely denied the other definition. Seriously though, all of those definitions apply to christianity to one extent or another.
So you can take that idiot comment and stick it where your mommy paddles you.
You're confusing faith and belief. Faith is not believing that some one exists, but that they are a trustworthy and benevolent. ...And you are wrong. Faith has many definitions, one of which you have chosen to deny.
Faith
1. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. 2. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. 3. Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters. 4. often Faith Christianity. The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will. 5. The body of dogma of a religion: the Muslim faith. 6. A set of principles or beliefs.
With Mars weak magnetosphere, it would be a constant battle to generate the gases needed to sustain life VS. Solar wind that strips those gases of the planet and into space.
The magnetosphere is the magnetic field generated by the planet. It essentially creates a shield around the planet that protects it from various kinds of solar radiation and the ill effects caused by said radiation.
Mars is, on a planetary scale,.... dead. There is no longer a mechanism within the planet itself to generate the magnetic field needed to protect the atmosphere (even if we could create one).
Nowhere in my post did I imply that no other leader has made an ass of themselves. Bush is just an easy target because he does it so consistently and obviously.
I have tried Vista. The betas, a friend has a new machine with Vista. I even have a machine that is more than capable of running Vista. I just have no need for it.
It's not that it brings nothing new to the table, it just doesn't bring anything new that I need. The interface is pretty, but that alone is not worth the cost.
XP works for me. It does everything I need it to do, runs all the software I need it to run. Maybe in the future that will change, but seeing as I am only 6 months into my typical 2 year upgrade cycle, I don't see me needing Vista for at least another 18 months. Maybe by then it will have matured a bit and the vulnerabilities will be patched adequately. Then again, maybe XP will support the new tech that I will upgrade to, and I can milk this XP license a while longer
Some modern cars are just as beautiful as their classic counterparts. The Corvette in your example for instance. The '63 Corvette is such a beautiful car. I have never driven one, but the form is breathtaking. The '07 'Vette is the same way. They're both very powerful and sensual designs. The mid/late '70s are butt ugly though.
I know an excellent surgeon who can remove that foot from your mouth.
Not much point to cracking DirecTV when Dish Network is laid open like a sacrificed cow.

Feminized seed has a much much higher rate of turning hermaphrodite. Why waste your money on femenized seed when you can sex and clone?

I agree. It's actually kinda funny that just yesterday my friend was telling how sick he is of Yahoo constantly changing their page.
I have noticed that too. It took 31 seconds to load this post comment page, and 87 seconds just to load this discussions main page.
