How is regulating access to the internet realistically different than regulating the internet? Which is why everyone was up in arms over net neutrality.
1. Labor. Have you ever taken apart a Mini? If you don't know what you're doing, you'll never get it back together right. Have you ever paid someone to take apart a Mini & install RAM or HDfor you? See if that's the price difference. 2. Some upgrades aren't reasonable ie CPUs that are soldered on.
Having said that, Apple's prices are high and out of proportion to their size/volume. But then again, it's not the teenager down the street who doesn't touch the powersupply & short your motherboard/damage your optical drive/etc...
Since spending more doesn't seem to be working well, why not spend less but more effectively. It's not like there's dozens of countries ahead of us, spending less and getting more out of their educational system, who could show us how to actually do it right AND cost effectively.
And way to ignore the actual issue on the vast excessive military spending. In your words, why do we spend SO much more per person (population) than everyone else in the world? You still haven't justified that.
And yet Social Security spending goes right back to the people who it was taken from. And is roughly in proportion to it's intake
The military, on the other hand, ends up being the world's policeman due to US politics. And spending WAY in excess than any other country. If we cut the military budget by 80%, it would still be the largest military in the world. That is just fundamentally insane.
Explain to me why the largest military in the world 'needs' another carrier or two.
If we were to cut ALL military spending across the board by 80%, the US military would still be the largest military in the world by about 35% over China.
Maybe if the US military wasn't required to be the world's policemen by the US govt, we could get meaningful debt AND deficit reduction. Not spending half a trillion dollars a year might lead to some fiscal responsibility.
The CEOs didn't have any clue what was going on within their own financial companies, and yet somehow they ended up at the table discussing options to fix their screw ups.
BSOD on a Mac almost always means there's a hardware problem, usually RAM. Knowing graphic designers, I'm sure your friend bought the cheapest RAM possible and it's now giving him issues.
And, no, it's not pretty standard in the Mac world. I regularly service people still running hardware 7+ years old, with equivalent OS and it still lets them work every day. Most of the time, they just want me to make their computer faster. Which is hard with 7+ yr old hardware...
Really? ALL the heavy lifting? You might want to look at what Apple has contributed back to the project since 2002. Which is exactly what open source is all about.
And then let me know when you see a phone that ships with KHTML on it.
Thanks, but no thanks. I'll move my kids to where most educators are focused on ranking at the top end, rather than how many kids made the NCLB, and how that affects the school.
Education was the reason I moved from rural North Carolina. They are the reason for No Child Left Behind. The teachers help push the kids up and over that very low bar just to get their bonuses. I've seen second graders that couldn't read their math problems.
Well, that and all the Nascar rednecks. Everyone's password is nascar7, nascar34 whatever number their favorite driver is.
I kept thinking AAPL was a heavily traded stock. Until I saw the ETFs or most stocks in the DJIA. It's volume is really like that of any other large cap stock. AAPL - ~20M/day
Or that giving the patient a placebo *and letting them know that* is better than nothing, and better than most IBS medicine.

At least this one will have more brains than Sarah Palin.
What's Alaskan for redneck?
Yes, we've known there was water & ice on Mars for centuries.

The newegg prices just aren't comparable though.

Who the fuck cares if it's not the biggest military spending by percentage of GDP. Use real numbers.
US Military spending : $663 Billion.
The next 15 countries COMBINED : $637 Billion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures
Now justify why we need that much more military.
Dunno. Ask the British; maybe they've figured it out.

Including ones that have complaints about it!
Maybe you've heard of Enron, where they did exactly that.
Unregulated food is illegal.
Example 1: Milk

You might want to go look at the total sales of agriculture in the US...
Here's a hint. It's in the hundreds of billions.
And he was right.
This doesn't work in Safari 5.02. Even without private mode on.
Safari without Private Browsing works fine too.
Exactly. I loved reading The Big Short.

Bullshit.

And most people still run WinXP, which still regularly gives BSODs, especially when it's virus infected.

So 41 out of 51 isn't close to the worst?

Then you're not paying attention.
TSA list of where they are:

Includes almost every airport you listed.
Poor analogy.
Instead of the Library of Alexandria try a few scraps of papyrus that crumbles on contact and only contained a few words anyway.

AAPL - ~20M/day

MSFT - ~60M/day
INTC - ~65M/day
SPY - ~180M/day
