A friend of mine has a dual-AGP Dell system a while back... I'm thinking it was around the BX/PII-333 era. They did exist, but the idea just never caught on first time round.
I too have had the un-pleasure of working alongside some EDS employees, and they were utter, utter morons. You get that awful sinking feeling when you realise that their qualifications comprise a MSCE alone, but they just had no concept of life in the Real World of IT at all.
They actually did have their Linux zealot with them, and he was the worst of the lot -- a vile, unwashed grease-blob with the same mentality (brainwashed; blinkered; whatever) of most of the zealots here... v. annoying.
Please... NEVER used the abbreviation BT in a thread about comms.
It gives us Brits a bowel-shaking shudder when we think of how British Telecom are going to ruin t'Internet 2 at some point in the distant future when it becomes available to the masses.
It's funny... just search 'n replace XP to OSX; Windows to MacOS and you just described exactly how Apple succesfully got OSX out and got the app. vendors working to make the whole thing complete... at least, that's how I perceived it; A big gamble that worked.
Tell you what... see if someone can find out their address and I'll send Big Ron round "for a chat", 'k. Sor'ed.

Oh the irony of "mobile asses"... in that a huge percentage of the mobile users encountered on a daily bases are indeed asses (aka assholes; asshats).
Picture your average British Rail journey... filled with a constant background noise of tinny ringtones. More annoying are those who think their ringtones are cool/funny and seem to leave them playing for the enjoyment of those around. I swear I'm going to throttle the next person I encounter with The Muppets theme tune, if only because I end up humming it for the rest of the day!!
Worse of all, though, are the actual conversations... either for their sheer dullness ("Hi. I'm on the train" or "Hello Darling, we're just pulling into Sutton" being v. popular), or for the full-on detail they are relaying ("Yeah, I was sick everywhere").
Personally, the thing I hate most about camera phones is, I can't lie to the wife about where I am. "Prove it", she'll say when I claim to be stuck at some god-forsaken station (when in reality, I'm in my local having a couple of jars on the way home).
I agree that SATA Opticals seem a little obscure, however, I think the 'performance' and 'modding' communities will buy them if not only for the unrestricted airflow offered by SATA cables vs. PATA "air brakes".
I for one would love to be able to dump my last ribbon cable (yes, even rounded ones) for these compact versions. I already abandoned floppy drives partly due to their cables (and the more obvious reasons!;)
Sure, I can grind XP to a halt on a whim by attempting to mount a DVD-R coaster, for example. I'm sure I could do that with numerous other OSs too.
I mean, install some apps from Symantec and you'll soon get to know your Blue Screen codes off-by-heart. I hate their stuff with a passion, what with me being the "Family 24/7 PC Repairman and Support Line".
Build a system with quality components and decent software and you'll get no problems.
Wow - I didn't know the Mac had 3D icons?!
That's it -- you've convinced me -- I'm switching tomorrow! One question: Do I need a special monitor to see (feel?) those icons in proper 3D? Which video card manufacturers make the best 3D drivers for Mac -- assuming the 3D icon rendering process is handled in hardware?
One final thing -- will it run any of the software I bought for Windows 98... oh.

Luckily, Windows came pre-installed with the Media Player I needed to watch it. ;)
Yeah... I was watching the BBC stream for a while... lots of shots of The Sun (never that photogenic!), the empty runway and other camera crews heads.
The takeoff was caught, then some more shots of sky and finally they webcast the entire footage being rewound -- live. Gripping stuff.
Having said that, NASA are showing 40 minutes of ass-kissing to pad out the time until launch.
I just love this idea. Is there a "register of spammers" somewhere?
To prove it's not vapourware, I think they're running a C64, emulating NT4, hosting IIS for their Web server.

So... when is the Linux client for Doom 3 going to be released?
When the in-game advertising has generated enough revenue to subsidise the port, mebe?

(I don't run OSX; just an observation)
You mean, like Xbox2?? :|
You mean, The Doors warning about threats from Windows?

Crappy Hardware = Problems
Decent Hardware + Crappy Drivers = Problems [*cough*Creative]

You're right.
Imagine the cons on eBay when this comes out State-side.
